Never really stayed here, but had a visit of the premises for a seminar. The settings were quite nice. The is one place with quite a "happening" night despite the fact that it is beside Hard Rock Cafe. The only shortcoming is the parking which is a bit of a squeeze.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Great location but rundown and expensive

from KEMerk
The Concorde is walking distance from the Petronas towers and the KL Tower. The monrail is just a couple of minutes walk and the subway another five minutes walk so the location is excellent.

The lobby is spectacular but the rooms are looking a bit shabby. However the rooms are quite comfortable and a safe in provided in the room (essential in KL).

There are two breakfast restaurants. The Melting Pot is included in some packages and it is a top breakfast buffet with chefs to prepare fresh omeletes etc. and a huge choice of western and asian breakfast. I believe the other restaurant is less impressive but presumably means lower room rates.

Staff were always helpful.

Expensive for KL but the location and breakfast might make it worthwhile.

Basic Clean

from Global_traveller2000
The Concorde, basic hotel, clean white walls, families etc. The last time it was a last minute trip, and all of my favourite hotels in KL were fully booked. I took up one of the Premier executive package, which offered me a Premier Room, breakfast, free Internet access, one way transfer to or from the airport, all this for less than 100 dollars. So I arrived bleary eyed from Sydney, hopped unto a taxi, arrived and entered the lobby, queued up behind some families and waited, at last, the receptionist asked me for my name and told me that I actually have to check in through some Lounge. So I went to the Lounge, there was another queue there and queued again behind some businessmen. The Lounge was a much better waiting place, free coffee and titbits, television and friendly staff. I was checked into the 5th floor, into a non-smoking corner room.

The room is spacious, as you enter there is a large working desk and Free internet access that came out from the drawer next to the working desk, TV, CD player, radio, large king size-bed. The room was kept very clean and tidy, minimum decor, mostly brown, pastel, warm and soft tones. There is a lounge car in the middle of the room, free mineral water, ad the basic minibar. Before the bathrooms are the cupboards, ironing boards and luggage area. The bathroom is large, one side the bathtub and the sink, the other the shower, bathroom was dimly lilted, sort of a gloomy grey/blue light. I can't complain about the size of the rooms and facilities for the price paid, but the view really disappointed me. As I moved the curtains I could only see the MRT (monorail) line right outside, the main road and some trees. Don't expect to see the KL tower behind the trees. I realised that evening that the shower was not working. I called the reception and a friendly handyman came within minutes to fix the problem, can't complain about the service too.

Breakfast the next morning, food selection is good, but gets emptied very fast. Usual crowd of local Malaysians and their families, once a glimpse of some Americans. I found the Melting Pot Cafe rather crowded for my taste, went upstairs and ordered room service instead. Prices for room service was expensive, unless you order the Malaysian breakfast. The good thing is that the Hard Rock Cafe is just next to the hotel lobby, I could pop in there and have a burger anytime. the hotels strategic location was also a plus, it is only a minute walk away from the basement car park and you will find rows of restaurants, bars, the KL Twin towers, shopping and etc.

Check out was fast and swift, a lovely staff accompanied me to the limousine stand and I got my free airport transfer to KLIA. Problem : It was 5pm on a Wednesday and it was pouring. We had to wait for 15 minutes before the car managed to pull out of the hotel car park into the main road. I underestimated the time needed to get from there to the airport by road. But luckily, the driver knew some shortcuts around town, it took us 1 hour to get on the highway.

The Concorde seems neutral to me, good location, large rooms, family orientated and good prices. Not a bad choice for a short family holiday or a stopover. But if you are looking forward to a honedeymoon, luxury spa day or a treat for loved ones, the hotel falls behind the rest of the luxury hotels surrounding it

Satisfactory for a short stay

from Pamperedtraveller
We stayed at the hotel because it was a business trip for my husband. We brought along our 4 year old at the time (May 2005) and used the place for 4 D3N. I try to be objective in posting this.
It's not too bad for a short stay and rather convenient in that the nearest LRT is a short walk away and if not for the scorching heat, about 15 mins walk to the KLCC.
The internet didn't work in our room so they offered us another room a few doors away (same floor). Everything was good.
We had a premier room which is a good size for us. There is a vanity and walk-in wardrobe at the entry to the bathroom. nice and clean, nothing to shout about.
We are ok about the hotel except for a few problems. The partitions between the rooms were quite thin and you could hear noises from next door. Our neighbouring room was really rowdy. As it turned out, some college kids were having a mini party! My husband went next door to complain to which they apologised and turned down their volume.
My dining experience at this hotel is not good. We tried the dinner buffet on the first night (adults and kid were starving) and that was a mess. I couldn't find anything good to say except that some of the cold dishes were no longer fresh like it had been recycled from some previous meal! The spread didn't look inviting. The selection was limited. The following night, we decided to dine at The Grill. Yes, it was very expensive but that's fine if level of service and food match the price. In my case, the food was divine, nice presentation (kudos to the chef) but service level from the staff was simply non-existent.
Our room came with breakfast at The Grill and that was quite nice. Eggs can be done any way you like and the staff service was far better than my experience at dinner.
We spent a fair amount of time at the poolside and there is a small children's pool. On the days we were there, the pool was packed with local families. I felt this was strange because some of them appear not to be hotel guests.
If you don't wish to venture out, Hard Rock Cafe is right next door to the Concorde and their service rocks. I ate there twice with my son.
All in all, the staff were helpful, prompt and they didn't hesitate to advise on directions.

Nice location but old and rundown hotel, lobby deceiving!

from Ang_26
Chose this property for its proximity to the Menara tower and Petronas twin Towers (both walking distance) as well as being right across the road from monorail station which was handy.

Beatiful lobby, greeted by poor english speaking reception and took 1/2 hour to get checked in. Am sure the premier wing which is at the fron tof the property is lovely , however the superior rooms are in the back wing over looking a construction site (even though I had requested views of the towers) The floor smelt like cigarettes (obviously the whole hotel you can smoke in as there were ashtrays everywhere!)

The room was moderate sized, the bathroom tiny with a shower over the bath made for a midget and the plug did not work so you could not have a bath. The towel rail was honging off the wall and one down light was not working. The bed was a queen and firm with a nice feather doona. Glad we only had 2 nights here.

The brekki was reasonable and was in a different room each morning of our stay. We also had the buffet dinner with seafood on one night and this was pleasant. We also took advantage of the on site Hard Rock restaurant.

Overall a nice location but need some serios work to the older superior/standard wing.

graet hotel - warm and friendly

from 11mon
Stayed on business as usual - in fact its the 8th time, would have been a 9th but it was full and had to stay at the Sheriton...

Premier room (you book in via a private area where you can sit and have a refreshing drink whilst doing the paperwork etc)

Warm and friendly atmosphere, good breakfast at 'Spices restaurant' , best bar in town for live music and door to the Hard Rock Cafe....minute walk to monorail and only 2 stops to bukit Bintang, Sungei Wang plaza etc...

Will stay again....often !

nice but a little loud

from which_hat
my husband and i and 3 daughters stayed here for 6 nights in january ,we booked an inter connecting room for our 2 eldest which was fantastic with views of the petronas towers, our room had a fold away bed for our third child which made the room very small and the noise from the nightclub/bar was very loud and was difficult to sleep, after speaking with the manager we all changed rooms to the corporate floor the next morning before breakfast, which was very nice with plenty of room and a huge bathroom we loved it,but we did not get the inter connecting room, our 14 and 11 year old were about 4 rooms down the hall ,but we had no problems and they were happy,we could talk on the phone whenever.the breakfast was nice with a good selection but no bacon.checking in and out was good with no delays.i would say that this hotel is more for business people rather than families.

Excellent all round

from Jane73
Everything about the place was excellent, the location, the rooms and the service. I booked through the hotels website at an extremely cheap rate for the quality of the hotel. The hotel car was there as arranged (included in the price of the room) at the airport. Breakfast was superb with everything one could want for both Western and Asian tastes. Just a five minute walk from the Suria KLCC shopping centre and the Hard Rock Cafe is underneath (no noise heard though), I had heard that you could get disturbed fom the Monorail however this did not affect us we didnt hear a thing and we were on the 18th Floor. The Premier lounge with drinks and snacks was great for a swift check in and check out.

Great location and fantastic rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Concorde while visiting Kuala Lumpur in early 2004. The room I had was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the staff were friendly. I had an amazing view of the Petronas Towers from my window and I would highly recommend staying here if you're going to be in KL for a few days.

from bescherelle
I had booked for a Superior Executive King Room (Double) through their website for period of stay Feb 23, 2006 - Feb 26, 2006. I appreciated that the staff was quick with check in. The room had beautiful view of the twin tower. The room was comfortable with simple white linen. The shower curtain was mouldy and it was changed immidiately after I notified the staff. Very nice location. I would come back again to this hotel and I would recommend it.

Five Star @ Four Star Rate

from reli01
This is definitely one of the best hotels in Kuala Lumpur. Location is unbeatable with A+ service all through. I checked into a Premier Executive room. Guests for Premier wing has the advantage of check-in through a separate/exclusive lounge where you are greeted with a drink. The corridor was cool, quiet and having nice smell. The room was very spacious. Bathroom had plenty of room with separate shower cubicle. Breakfast spread was adequate at Spices on the first floor, while ground floor coffee shop offered buffet with mostly local delicacies. Food at both the places was very tasty. Business centre had eight units of PC with online connectivity and two printers. The fitness centre on the first floor was well equipped with well behaved staff. However, check-out was slightly slow and prolonged because of inadequate staffing (just two at the counter) at Premier Lounge. They were unable to cope up early morning rush. Overall experience was more than satisfactory.

Top Local Tips for Kuala Lumpur

Cameras & Electronic Goods You can find good deals on some models (very few though) especially in Sungei Wang (always ask for a discount), but do not expect great savings from your homeplace!

KLCC Gardens If you're tavelling with children and they need to let off steam the gardens of the KLCC (Petronas Towers) are worth and hour or two - there is a large clean paddling pool and lots of park toys form them to play on.

Discriminatory Practices by Hotel Staff Since Malaysia do not have an Anti-Discriminatory Law, anyone who are gay, lesbian, tranny, or look like one will be denied service and thrown out. Check with friends who have been there before which hotels are more accommodative.
