enjoyed my stay

I stayed at Berjaya Times Square Hotel w/ my husband and two children in February for two nights. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room w/ one bedroom and living area was extremely spacious. The rooms are worn and the doors would have to be pushed to shut properly. The look is very elegant, though. The bed was comfortable and the staff brought extra pillows/blankets for my son to sleep on the couch. There is funny feature which we did not discover until our last evening - in order to get hot water in bath/shower you must turn on a switch to start the water heater. Our TV worked just fine and had a great selection of channels. We were on one of the higher floors w/ a view of Petronas tower and the swimming pool.

My children and I went swimming in the hotel pool which was absolutely wonderful!! It is enormous and w/ the hot weather was a wonderful treat. The pool surroundings are also very peaceful and I took a brief stroll there each morning. There is a small playground to one side of the pool area and my children enjoyed this as well. The pool area also has two small pools very suitable for toddlers.

The hotel offers a breakfast buffet each AM with no charge. It was very nice w/ a multitude of Asian and American/European choices. At peak time it was hard to find a table - it was quite popular among the hotel guests.

The hotel is connected to a very large shopping mall w/ restaurants and a food court. It was very convenient.

Last but not least I highly recommend the tours offered by the concierge of surrounding areas of KL. I forget the name of the tour company. The concierge contacted the company for the booking. A private minivan w/ AC arrived to pick up our group of five. The driver was also our tour guide and spoke very good English. He was very friendly and helpful. We took two tours on two separate days. Our tour on our last day was to FRIM which is a rainforest research center approx 30 min from KL. He willingly took us to the bus station to book our bus back to Singapore and dropped us back at the bus station as well for our departure. Our first tour was to crab island (Pelau Ketam) to have a view of island/fishing village life w/ a very delicious & fresh seafood lunch. This tour also included a stop at Shah Alam mosque. The FRIM tour was a vigorous hike in a rain forest w/ a canopy walk. Look out because there are a lot of mosquitoes.

My recommendation if traveling between Singapore and KL is to use one of the many luxury coach bus companies. The trip is approx 5-6 hours which I am told is shorter than the train trip. The ride is extremely comfortable and the price is very reasonable. We used the PLUS liner company but I think there are several which are suitable.

We had a wonderful time in KL and the Berjaya Times Square Hotel was a fantastic deal w/ very comfortable stay.

Convenient location

A conveniently located hotel that is near major tourist attractions. The monorail at the shopping centre - Times Square Complex, is a great way to travel. You get sheltered all the way. So no worries expecially raining, which is quite unpredictable in KL!

The room that I stayed in was equipped with all modern basic amenities. It offers great view of KL (mine was directly facing the Twin Towers). The bathroom was nicely done and spacious as well.

However one drawback - the service over at Front office can get distorted whenever during busy periods.

Not as good as others

Stayed at this hotel as travelling with children and there is more space for them to move about. Took a family suite consisting of two bedrooms , lounge, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Changed room three times, first one not ready, second one smelt badly of smoke , third one we took , but some of the furniture was looking a little tired, and in each room the tv did not seem to be working properly. In the middle of night the lounge curtains fell down , maintenence arrived two days later to mend them , would have been quite easy to do with a ladder but they decided to remove them never to be seen by us again. The bathrooms were quite nice . view from from the bedrooms is quite strange as the windows go down to the floor and are on two whole walls , we were very high up and it left us feeling quite sick at times ! especially if you are in bed with the curtains and nets open.we were higher than most of the other buildings. very strange ! Whilst waiting to check in the reception area was crowded with school kids and instruments , goodness know what that was all about , glad they did not have rooms on our floor ! Quite hard to get a taxi from outside this hotel , very annoying as all the taxis were queued up only wanting to take the passengers willing to pay the inflated price ,hotel did not want help on this matter and seemed to be encouraging it somewhat , so every time we took the taxi from outside the shopping terminal , even on the day we left with our baggage. Thats not right and not good . I was most annoyed about this.

We just had a holiday in Kuala Lumpur and stayed at Berjaya Times Square Hotel. One of the main reason for staying there is that I heard from my friends the rooms are spacious. Well, I am not disapppointed. The room that we stayed in (Brooklyn) was more than adequate to accomodate the four of us - it must have been more than 1000 square feet!!

The pool was lovely as well - if only it is deeper. Security at the hotel is great as security staffs there constantly there.

Perhaps the only drawback is there is only one cafe and a lounge. Other than that I have no complaint.

Great Location

An ideally located hotel with all the necessary basic amenities. Just steps away from public transport including the Monorail integrated system. Very easy to get about the city.

The hotel itself is housed in side Times Square complex which is actually a colossal building. Rooms are spacious and the smallest room can essily accomodate 4 people without feeling claustrophobic. The bathroom is spacious too. Great pool views which is located on 15th floor.

Perhaps a wider selection of F & B outlets would make this hotel a great one. Overall pleasant experience...

Although the room was rather basic, it was nevertheless comfortable. It was also quite spacious and was able to accomodate my extended family as well. Even the bathroom was fantastic, what more with the Aigner amenities. I also took some back home as a souvenir for my relatives back home.

I would definitely return again, just for the view.

My family and I came to Kuala Lumpur for a short break and decided to give Times Square Hotel a try despite the not so great review posted. However I was pleasantly surprised to find the rooms (suites, I think they called it) spacious and with magnificent views of the Twin Towers. And the well-manicured grounds of the swimming pool coupled with plenty of room for my kids to swim about is a bonus for me and my wife.

Next time if you happen to be there, try to book the higher floors - you will be swept away by the view!! The room I was stayed was clean with ample space to walk about (Brooklyn Suite, I think about 1100 sq. ft.)

Unexpectedly pleasant stay

Frankly, the reason I booked Berjaya Times Square Hotel was that I had no other choice. All other hotels were fully booked. I was worried at first because of the negative comments posted online. However my worries soon disappeared the moment I was at the reception. The welcome was warm and friendly. Even the securoty guards on duty were ever so smiling.

My room was spacious (I think easily 600 sq.mtr.) and the view was pleasing. Overall I am quite pleased.

Do give it a try.

To all travellers who planned to visit Malaysia, please make room reservation with Berjaya Times Square Hotel and Convention Centre.

During my 3D2N stay in BTSHCC, I was greeted with friendly hotel staffs; Security Guard at the entrance and lift, Front Desk, Bell boy, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Big Apple restuarant were so friendly until I took the initiative to collect their names so that I can write in good recommendations to their top management. It is really a place to stay and I wish I could extend my stay longer but due to work schedule I have to be back to my country.

I will bring my family and recommend my friends to spend their holidays/vacation with BTSHCC for sure.

Keep up the excellent work BTSHCC staffs!!! See you all next year.

Top Local Tips for Kuala Lumpur

Always, always use the meter Taxi drivers in KL tend to drive with the meter off. You should insist him putting on the meter, unless look for another one. There are also coupon-paid taxis, where you can go to a certain landmarks with pre-defined prices.

Taxi fares Taxi fares can be bargained n they're always trying to undercut each other. Watch out if you're Caucasian!!! They'll charge u exorbitantly!!! Many taxi drivers were not interested in ferrying my family n me cos we're Asian n they know we r wise to their tricks. They specialise in Whites!!! Standard fares would be 10-15 Malaysian Ringgit
