The hotel is very central for every must see in Tokyo. It is a good half an hour walk to the ginza and the same to tokyo tower. You can eat cheap or expensive as you like. The hotel has a good restaurant which includes a western menu for those who do not do sushi. They will also book trips for you which is a must because very little English is used in places such as the shinkansen (bullet train). You need a guided tour for the shinkansen and also for the trip to mount fuji. All guides speak English I don't know where we would have ended up without a Japanese guide to get us on the right train. I cannot wait to go back.

Top Local Tips for Tokyo

Use the The Limousine Bus has a booking desk in the arrivals hall at Narita. They have buses which take you to the front door of just about every hotel in town, and compared with London it's not too expensive (3000Y each way). Naturally, they always run on time and are clean and reliable.

Eat local! Save cash by going into a local noodle place! Point at the menu or the displays in the front window, and enjoy!

Public Transport Don't be afraid to use the train system in Tokyo as it is the easiest and least expensive way of getting around. All the train stops are in English and Kanji so it is very easy to see where you are going. The trains even at peak hour are not packed like sardines (which is what we expected) there is no need for a rail guard to push anyone in as there is plenty of room, in fact: it left us wondering where all of Tokyo's population was hiding! :)
