Top Local Tips for Tokyo
Fishmarket? Whoop-de-dooo What is so special about the Tokyo fishmarket? Especially when the guide books insist you go there at 4 am to watch fishmongers buy and sell large chunks of tuna?! If you want to experience real Japanse culture, go to Kyoto, or go shopping in Shinjuku and Ginza!
Subway Taxi's are a bit expensive, use the subway to get everywhere: they're not dangerous, everythings in english (all station names), and overall it costs only 190 JPY to get all over the city which is the UK equivalent of £0.50 to get from (in London) Waterloo the Wembley Park on the Underground and the US equivalent of $1 to get from (in NYC) Battery Park to Times Square.
New York Grill and New York Bar eggregiously overpriced Avoid the New York Grill and New York bar. Poor service and medicore at best food. As a matter of fact avoid all food at Park Hyatt Tokyo, except for breakfast or light lunches at Girandole (their casual all day french dining restaurant) which are okay and relatively resonably priced by five star hotel standards. Also the Japanese restaurant, Kozue I believe it's called, is nothing special and very expensive. For superb Japanese dining nearby go to the three Japanese restaurants at the century Hyatt, in fact while your at it, if you'd like to save some money and don't need a truly gigantic room on the top of a skyscraper- Just stay at the Century Hyatt. In many ways it's a better hotel in my opinion, and it costs about 1/3 the price.
