Review - Nishishinjuku Hotel

I have stayed here only once overnight. The Nishishinjuku is only 5 minutes from Shinjuku Station but my taxi driver had difficulty finding the place. There is a long flight of stairs to get into the hotel. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. The restaurant serves a good Japanese breakfast. Staff are friendly but speak very little or no English. This would be a good choice for an overnight if you are catching a train from Shinjuku the next morning and you do not want to break the bank.

Things close on mondays. An awful lot of museums and the zoo in Ueno park close Monday's. check before you go.
Nishi Shinjuku elevator to first floor Go around the side where there is an elevator at the parking garage and take the elevator up to the lobby instead of breaking your back lugging your suitcase up the steep flight of stairs out front.
Getting around I would recommend get a Suica prepaid card to get around the trains. its alot faster than buying tickets. Always carry a metro/subway map with you and as soon as you get in makes sure you look at the train map (where it stops) over the doors. This site http://www.japan-guide.com/ helped alot. If you plan where you are going everyday with the metro/subway map before you get to Japan you can save some money.
