Top Local Tips for Tokyo
Use baggage service if traveling by Shinkansen (bullet train) between cities Make use of a baggage forwarding service (we used one called Kuroneko, or "black cat" delivery; you will notice their trucks everywhere with a yellow circle and black cat logo) if you are traveling via train between cities (i.e. Tokyo-Osaka). You will save yourself a lot of time and inconvenience by doing so. My main reasons for recommending this: 1. It is affordable (~JPY150-200/suitcase) and reliable 2. All Japanese use it, and you will not have to haul your suitcase onto a busy train and get dirty looks from the locals, 3. it will make your transition to your next hotel much easier, as your bags are sent directly to the hotel, thus you can spend time from your arrival in the new city sightseeing, instead of taking your bags to your hotel in the middle of the day. Ask the front desk about this service and make sure they assist you with filling out the forms, as addresses in Japan are fairly complicated.
