Shuttle bus Be sure to take advantage of the hotel's shuttle bus. We found it ran on time and saved dragging cases on and off public transport.
Aeon mall bus Take a bus from outside Narita train station to the Aeon mall for Y200. It is a mall like anyplace else in the world so don't go looking for some great cultural experience there, but it was a great place to spend a day with a 4 year old out of the cold and wind while waiting for the rest of our travel party to join us.
Naritasan Park Include a visit to the park next to the Naritasan Shinsho Temple - entry is via a flight of steps towards the back of Temple. There are many attractions to gaze and wonder, and an air of tranquility within the park does wonders to the soul.

The staff is courteous. Nothing more, nothing less.
The rooms are clean, adequately appointed for the single traveler, and predictable in their consistently equal appearance. To a traveler, this is a virtue. Perhaps less so to a tourist.
The hotel is surrounded by interesting sites, but westerners will know they are outsiders from the first step. Oddly, the only warm reception I received was at a local bank, where I exchanged currency. (Only Yen are accepted by the locals). Everywhere else, I was treated politely, but unenthusiastically.
The shuttle bus runs far to infrequently to be described as a shuttle. In the winter, this can be trying after flying 18 hours from the US or Canada.
