elysian villas

from wally1
just back from Bali and stayed at the Elysian..many, many thanks Epicurian for the recommendation, we really enjoyed it and can definately recommend these villas, liked having the main pool with the Bales/Cabanas as an option as well as your private villa pool. Great Villas, great complex, good staff and food.
Also checked out The Villas which I think are looking a bit tired and also had a tour around Villa Kubu which is still looking good, although, of course no main pool in both of those villas just a private one in your villa. So my recommendation is go The Elysian!!

Also, for Batt...I flew Garuda which was ok (as economy always is) you were right still ashtrays in the plane which means planes are getting pretty old, but everything went smoothly!!

Really nice.

Booked a 3 night 4 day stay and what a wonderful stay. These villas are modern and so private - a really great getaway. Location was fantastic, with only a 10 minute walk to Ku De Ta - still the best bar in Bali after all these years, and that gorgeous beach outside it. It's a bit far to walk for shops but Seminyak is a very trendy upcoming area for boutiques so it's great to hop in a cab out to the local area and have a walk around. Cabs are very cheap!

Service in this hotel was excellent, staff were friendly and accommodating, and also very helpful in hiring drivers for private tours around the island (for affordable rates!) and reliable taxis (Bluebird taxis are the best!).

The hotel also provided an in-villa dinner inclusive of my package which was beautiful. When we got back to the villa from a day of shopping, we found it candle-lit and set up for a romantic poolside dinner. Breakfast could also be arranged in the villa at all hours in the morning, which was great if you want to have an early start to catch sunrise over Mt. Batur.

Only downsides to the place was the pool - it was freezing cold and be careful not to jump around too much in it coz the corners are sharp and can severely injure you!, the spa - the therapist that massaged me was sick which didn't make the atmosphere too pleasant, and the food from the hotel restaurant - which was only mediocre. These were minor things in comparison though, and would not stop me from returning again, or recommending it to my friends!

The transfer service from the airport is fantastic - the service was first class and very punctual.

A highly recommended place to stay in Bali.

LOVE this place!!!!

This place really deserves all the great reviews it gets. Facility is top notch and service is as good as it gets, absolutely the best. The place is new (2 years old in 2007) and was designed by a highly regarded architect. I like the look, dramatic entrances, lots of vertical space, teak everywhere, but it looks more like Danish Modern than Balinese. The location is a 4 minute walk to the beach on a narrow road, not perfect but not bad either. The grounds are beautifully landscaped in lush tropical plants. Every villa has a gorgeous ultra clean pool that is very usable for swimming laps. The fixtures are top quality, from faucets and door handles to lighting. The villas are spacious, private and romantic. They are spotless. None of that typical tropical musty mildew room smell here. The beds are big and have good mattresses, you will sleep well. Hard to say what could be done to improve the place. The staff is genuinely friendly, very attentive without being obtrusive and extremely helpful. They aren't happy until you are and go to great lengths to insure that your guest experience is a good one. I needed some batik shirts altered and they found me an excellent tailor that was lightning fast and very reasonably priced. They are on duty at all hours and you can get a light bulb promptly replaced in the middle of the night of you wish or have a fresh mango smoothie delivered to your room at 3 AM. The restaurant is a real sleeper, an undiscovered gem with food and service that rivals the trendy places outside the gates. Great food, gorgeous poolside location and reasonable prices. All food is prepared poolside in a very clean and well equipped kitchen. Don't be afraid to ask for something slightly off the menu. If they have the ingredients they will make it for you. You never find yourself looking for a waiter, they pay attention and take care of things before you need to ask. The included breakfasts are top notch, better than I had at much more expensive places in Bali. Want a second Latte? A little more fruit? No problem and no extra charge. I like to drink a lot of bottled water and its all free at the Elysian. Annie Dean is in charge of "Guest Experience" and she takes her job seriously. The staff is very guest oriented and really take pride in their work, all of them: housekeeping, engineering, reservations, gardening, front desk, security and restaurant. The place is remarkably bug free which worries me a bit as the only way this could be accomplished in Bali is through liberal use of insecticides, but you will never find roaches, bed bugs and only an occasional mosquito here. I'd rather have some insecticide than Dengue Fever. I stayed at the pricey Pita Maha in Obud and found a couple of pesky roaches in the otherwise clean room. I like bug free rooms and that is what you get at the Elysian. When you check out there is no hassle with incorrect room charges, my bill was error free. I planned only one stay here but canceled other plans and came back during the second week of our trip. My only regret in writing such a love letter review is that it will make it tougher for us to get reservations in the future. Looking forward to our next visit. Mark and Sara

Amazing Villa Complex

from Oceansaparttravel
I booked direct with the hotel and got an amazing rate for my 5 night stay during June.

The location is only a 5 min walk to the beach and the restaurants. I thought this might have been a downfall before we arrived but because Seminyak beach isn't amazing you don't really have to stay on it to have an amazing time.

The staff were incredibly friendly 24 hours a day and were extremely helpful when we needed to book flights over to Lombok.

We only ate breakfast in the complex but each morning it was great. They play chillout music and the size of the portions are enough to keep you going till the evening.

My wife had a massage for 3 hours which she said was wonderful and fairly priced. Be aware that if you are only staying for a few nights it's worthwhile booking in advance as they are quite busy.

Overall a very friendly place with fantastic rooms and peaceful atmosphere.

Wonderful Layover

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent one night at this small luxurious boutique hotel in transit from another part of Indonesia, and wished we could have extended our stay there. We chose it because of the very positive reviews and its proxmity to the airport -- a 10-15 min trip and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is quiet with a lovely pool, spa and a very good restaurant. The pool villas are very private, spacious, very tastefully decorated (western contemporary), and have wireless internet and an ipod stereo system. The bathrooms were large and well appointed.

Although the hotel is not on a beach, I really liked the location. It is within walking distance to the beach, great shopping and lots of restaurants including Ku de ta (Food is overrated but the ambiance (very Hollywood) and setting (right on the water) is worth the visit if you like trendy LA-style restaurants.)

Possible downsides: If you are looking for an accommodation that is in the traditional Balinese style, then you might want to choose another hotel. This hotel is very western in appearance and amenities. For example, we had apples, bananas and oranges imported from the US in the fruit basket in our room. It is best for couples -- I wouldn't recommend it for families with small children.

Honeymoon heaven

from Topcliff
We have just arrived back in England after an amazing honeymoon. We stayed in Singapore fo three nights then flew onto Bali staying at the Elysian for 10 nights. We have stayed in many hotels/resorts in the far east and this is by far the best we`ve ever been to. We wanted to stay somewhere special for our honeymoon and the Elysian met our expectations and more. The staff were so helpful and friendly a real asset. Our villa was out of this world, when we arrived quite late at night, we were ascorted there and were greeted with roses and a bath filled with petals. Our living room was stylishly decorated with excellent personal touches(ipod, straw hat!) our bedroom was cosy again with lovely coordinating decor, bathroom was modern and extremely clean. Our villa was cleaned twice a day and room service available 24 hours a day.
With staying at the Elysian for our honeymoon we had extra perks such as two free massages one in the spa and the other in the comfort of the villa. Romantic evening meal and lunch.
The hotel also had cars where drivers were available to take you on day trips (for a price but v reasonable). Ubud is a must to see the culture of Bali.
All in all we had the best honeymoon anyone could ever ask for with thanks to the Elysian villas, we would highly recommend to everyone.

Gorgeous Villa

from jarbebe
My husband and I just returned from a 4D3N stay at The Elysian and we simply loved it!!! The villa is spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly. The hotel food is also very good. As mentioned, the location is a bit far from the beach but it didn't really bother us. The street is pretty safe to walk even at night. You can always arrange with the hotel for transfers to the restaurants and beach. We particularly enjoyed the in-villa dinner which was really romantic. The ipod is also a bonus. The spa for us was only a so-so experience though.

Utter Bliss

from MarieK2.
How we wish we had had more time!! First found this place online then, after reading other TripAdvisor reviews, we booked in for three nights - far too few. This is a tiny resort that is hidden up a peaceful lane but still close to the beach and some of Seminyak's best restaurants. But we hardly ventured out as it's very hard to leave a villa that is so delightful. The space is huge, the facilities great and best pof all, they are completely private. A high wall and plenty of beautiful tropical plants ring your private pool and deck. You can see no one and no one can see you. Utterly, completely blissful.

Expectations Exceeded

from cad0
We have just returned (this morning) from a wonderful 12 night holiday in Bali, including 5 nights at the Elysian. I can only reiterate the sentiments that many have shared regarging the general friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The amenity of the villas themselves, aslo, was first class. Particularly liked the loan ipod and enjoyed the 'chill' mix. We knew about the ipod dock and so had bought our own ipod but ended up listening to the hotels most of the time.
I also very much liked the WiFi access and the several laptops / PCs that guets could use to stay in touch.
The location is only OK, although it is very cnetral. Others have mentioned the lack of access to the beach, and if I was to say anything against the place, it would be the 10/15 minute walk to either Jl Dyana Pura or Jl Laksmana for the restaurants.
But on balance, we will definitely be back. This place exceeded our expectations.

Fantastic Place to Unwind

from LimMIE
We stayed at the Elysian for 3 nights and we want to share how pleasant the experience was.

1) Friendly and helpful staff
2) Comfortable / spacious villas
3) Fantastic breakfast!!
4) Good variety of in-villa amenities (they provide flip-flops / bottled water / full set of toiletries, so don't bother brining your own)
5) A 10-minute walk away from Ku-de-ta and the rest of Seminyak (shopping, food, etc).
6) Value for money! (we paid USD185+++ per night)
7) Super experience with the in-villa candlelight dinner
8) 40 channels to watch!
9) Great bathtub / shower concept.

Things to note:
1) To get to the beach, you need to take a 15-minute walk out a small road.
2) the deck-chairs in the villas are not adjustable - it's in permanent semi-reclining position
3) The villas have pretty high walls, so you will either get the morning sun or evening sun to tan.
4) A Blue-Bird taxi will get you to the airport for 60,000Rps. You can ask the front desk to book the taxi for you.
5) Even after checking-out (in the afternoon), housekeeping gladly provided towels, bath-foam, etc for us to take a shower prior to catching our flight at night.
