Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel Mulia Senayan
Enjoyed our stay at The Mulia Senayan
from KushLondonThe rooms were large, comfortable and bathrooms clean and well appointed. The only negative part was that we requested a room change as we would hear constant music from outside the hotel but this was done immediately and with no problems.
The breakfast was one the best I've ever had, large variety (fried rice, waffles, pancakes, mee goreng) and good quality.
The hotel is also well located and is close to many shopping malls. Jakarta is of course not the safest place so I would reccomend taking a cab to the malls nonetheless.
The staff are polite but I wish the consierge was more helpful.
I asked to book a car to the airport but got three different rates from 3 different people which made things confusing.
Overall I had a great time, I loved the rooms and would definately stay here again.
Items inside locked-save box in the room was stolen.
from yesornostayItems never discovered till now. Will address this issue to US embassy in Jakarta and post this in as many online-hotel-review website.
Hotel looks can be deceiving, stay away from this hotel if I am you.
amazing
from samovicGood stay at the Mulia
from Melnq8I'd booked a Grandeur room, and was given a large, room on the 23rd floor overlooking the pool. The room was nicely furnished and decorated and had a very comfortable, massive king sized bed. The bathroom was also large, with both a shower stall and a separate bathtub.
Check in was a bit slow, as there were many people checking in when I arrived. Getting to my room was a challenge, as you have to insert your key card into a slot in the elevator before selecting your floor. There was a mad rush to do this when the elevators were busy and I ended up missing my floor a few times .
Service was very good, although I had to call more than once to get ice one particular night. Each time I left items with a porter to take up to my room, I received a follow up phone call to confirm that they'd been received. I thought this was a nice touch.
My room rate included a fabulous buffet breakfast in the cafe. The food was excellent and the selection was mind boggling.
I had dinner three nights in il Mare, the hotel's Italian restaurant. The food was wonderful and the service was flawless. The fourth night I dined in The Cafe and very much enjoyed my meal there as well.
Security was very tight at the Mulia and I felt very safe. In fact, I was amazed to find security just about everywhere I visited in Jakarta. Metal dectectors, car and bag inspections, etc.
My only complaint about The Mulia was the noise. Every night I could hear music from a nightclub, but I never did learn the source. I was also surprised that I could hear the traffic, even though I was on the 23rd floor. I could hear my neighbor talking and rummaging through his closet as well.
Otherwise, it was a great stay and I'd happliy stay there again.
Good hotel for business
from Mark_from_ThailandCheck-in can be a pain, as they do get busy & they are 'thorough', which means you can wait a little.
However, once through that - the rooms are very comfortable. I got free broadband Internet in my rate.
Security is very tight (be ready to fight t get your room card into the lift slot) but worthwhile, given some of the concerns in Jakarta recently.
Staff are good, very helpful & cheerful. Breakfast is great - always space & very large choice.
Wonderful nights.......!!!!!!
from prettygirl03No thin walls - No better value
from Peakview28Very nice
from TLS72I had a two night stay here and wished I could stay longer!
The rooms are large and very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel has all the facilities one would expect at a 5 star hotel.
The pool area is very nice, the gym is modern and the day spa is excellent. There are about five restuarants to choose from, I only ate at one which was the buffet but it the food was very good and very reasonably priced.
The business centre has internet but it is very expensive.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Mulia.
feel like a princess
from BrigidEThe decor is not my personal style by any means - but it is quite fabulous for a few nights! The rooms are extremely comfortable with every luxury - big feather pillows and fluffy quilts- there is a lot of gilding and frills - but nothing too offensive- that is the style of the local well heeled in these parts it seems! One thing that was a bit too tacky for my taste though was there was a palm tree in our room, that on closer inspection we discovered was plastic! - not sure why it couldn't be real as they are not exactly expensive in Indonesia!
The staff are excellent polite courteous and helpful..
The buffet breakfast is the best I have EVER had! (and I have had a few!) It is served in a palatial hall and every kind of breakfast you can imagine and more is on offer , European of all descriptions, a waffle station as well as all the regular fair - (including fresh exotic fruits from abroad that we miss living here such as peaches, plums and cherries... ) Chinese Yum cha dumplings, Japanese, Indian and of course Indonesian! even if you aren't staying at this hotel I would recommend coming here for the breakfast!
The hotel is in close proximity to a couple of the best Malls in JKK
So it is quite a good spot for shopping etc... stayed at a few other places but this is still my favorite.. not sure what the rate is for overseas guests but as we have work residency visa's the price was only $100 USD including B/F a bargain !
Hotel Mulia Jakarta: Thin walls
from Linus6julTop Local Tips for Jakarta
Spa's I would definately make use of the low prices and go to a Spa for a lovely massage, manicure or facial. Try and get a reccomendation from the hotel concierge as the Spa's in hotel themselves are very overpriced. Ask the hotel to make the booking for you and reconfirm the booking before you visit. You can get massages for around US$10 for 2 hours- an awesome deal!
Taxi Always take Blue Bird or Silver Bird and make sure they lock the doors when you get in.
Taxi from the airport If you haven't got anything booked on arrival then don't worry. As you come out through customs there are a row of taxi stalls in front of you. I picked Bluebird as a friend had recommended them. It was around 200000 rupees ( £12 UKP) for a taxi direct to the hotel. It was all done very efficiently, the staff spoke good English and the taxi took me exactly where I wanted to go with no hassle. I gave the driver 20000 rupees tip although I am not sure if that was required, but after a very long trip I was happy to give it. I used Bluebird throughout my stay and had no problems at all (hailing in the street or from hotel). Thye always turned on the meter without prompting and by UK standards they are very cheap.
