Taxis - Try not to book them! Holiday Inn Resort to Nagoya(Main Town) or Mega Mall Batam Centre will cost S$14 or RP 80K (Fixed Price!) Getting around the city will costs RP 20K (standard price, the drivers say) even for a short distance. At Nagoya, met 2 drivers who asked if we want to book them and they'll wait for us to do our massage, shopping and food for RP 100k. Thinking it was a good deal, we booked the taxi and turned out to be a BIG MISTAKE. At the end, they argued for RP 150k per taxi, saying we diverted for food. Mind you, we just treated them to a RP 133k meal! How unappreciative! Anyhow we regretted asking them to join us for dinner. Instead of sitting with us (6 of us), they sat at the other table. Thinking they were shy,we let them ordered their own food. When footing the bill, we were shocked! They had ordered 2 medium size plates of prawns! Not wanted to make a scene we paid and just take it as a lesson learnt. If you want to treat your drivers, please order for them according to your budget!
