Great Hotel
from Phil OllerenshawThe staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.
There are lots of places to eat in the village and on the sea front, all of them serve great food and if you like sea food then you can't go wrong. it's also very cheap to eat out, but the quality remains high.
We have travelled a lot over the last 10 years and we would rate Bali and the Puri Santrian in the top five places visted
All in all a brilliant holiday.
We also travelled to Lombok for a few nights. We stopped at the Novotel and would also recommend this hotel
Puri Santrian - fabulous
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe best place to stay in Sanur.
from Namaste01One of the best parts of staying at Puri Santrian is that just outside the gate there are shops, hairdressers, tailors and local restaurants for a cheaper good quality meal.
There is a paved path just outside the beachside gate that heads north and south along the beach that is perfect for walking, running or bike riding. It is only about a 20-30 minute walk north to Sindhu Beach where there are beachside restaurants and local markets. A 2 minute walk south take you to some nice beachside restaurants and a small market.
The pools (2) are always in top condition and poolside service is always available. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Awesome!
from bianchibiciclettaThe hotel was well maintained both the gardens and the interior of the rooms. The lush greenery of the gardens added to the feel of a resort. The pool was luxurious and clean and the resort had its own private beach.
The breakfast spread was reasonable and we never had to wait. The hotel staff were every so friendly.
The hotel was so comfortable that we were reluctant to leave to go on day trips. It is also within close proximity to other less expensive restaurants.
I highly recommend Puri Santrian if you want to stay in a resort hotel with good service at a low price and yet be just be steps away from the beach.
Fantastic
from Bali_babeWe stayed in the beach wing rooms which were again excellent. They looked exactly like they were on the website and we certainly had no complaints.
One thing that we really liked about the Puri was the staff. Everybody always greeted us with a smile and they were very hospitable. Of course if you know Bali well, you will know that everybody is obliging but the staff at the hotel had that something extra which made our holiday so much more enjoyable.
I noticed on one of the other reviews that there were long queues for breakfast, however we never encountered this problem. Breakfast opens at 6.30 each morning and closes at 10, which gives everybody plenty of time to go. There was a smoking and non smoking area which was excellent and the array of food was more than adequate. The pools were fabulous too. They were spotless as they were cleaned without fail everyday and they were the perfect places to relax at. Everything about the Puri was fantastic and we truly loved the hotel. We would not hesitate at all about going back again and hopefully sometime in the near future we will.
Thank you Puri Santrian
from B.CradlerOne of the most wonderful hotels this traveller has had the privilege
of staying in.
Firstly, it really is a haven away from the heat and let's put it
bluntly, the filth that surrounds it! Look, this is Bali, and it's to
be expected, but, it certainly isn't everybody's bag to see broken
sidewalks, rubbish and the ever present stray dogs that wander around
the streets looking as though they hadn’t eaten in weeks.
Having said that, there is absolutely none of that inside the Grounds of
the Puri Santrian.
This place is sensational! The Grounds are immaculate, the pools
incredible, and the staff amazing. Everybody we dealt with at the
hotel was warm and willing to assist. As my wife and I are English speaking people, the
staff always tried to speak English to us, and for the
most part you understand everything, and they understand you. This is
not to say they are fluent, but with a little effort here and there,
everything is made clear!
I recommend that if you do book to stay here, you take up breakfast
with the hotel. Every morning you are greeted by smiling faces and a
selection of foods that will certainly cover the majority of people's
bases! My wife is Vegetarian, and there was always a hearty option at
the Breakfast buffet. For the carnivore, there's NO worries here!
As for the restaurants at the hotel, they are fantastic. The
Beachside BBQ each night is amazing. I had grilled Tuna Steaks (I
recommend you ask to have them cooked medium, as well done makes
them a little dry) for about 40,000Rph, this came with salad and
Rice. The food is always fresh, and importantly SAFE!
The Pools are truly wonderful. if you go to the Puri Santrian
website, ----, you can take a bit of a tour of the place.
Here you will find pictures of the facilities and believe me, what
you see in the photos of the Pools and grounds is EXACTLY what you
get! Lounging by the pools was not difficult at all! and the breeze that floats up from the safe and clean beach makes the heat almost vanish.
BUT.....With everything in life, there's good and bad. Fortunately,
there's a heck of a lot more good than bad here at the Puri Santrian.
If I can make a complaint it would only be that the rooms aren't
quite what the website makes them out to be. We ended up using 2
types of rooms, so, I think we are qualified to comment.
Firstly, the Beach Wing Room. The location of these rooms is great.
Right near the Beach Pool, and with lovely views from the balcony.
But, the interior of the room was more like the pictures of the
Garden Wing Rooms on the website. The bathroom was lovely though, and
looked as though it had been renovated. The only reason We changed to
a bungalow room was because of a leak in the roof! When it rained,
you could hear dripping onto the ceiling above the bed, and at 2
o'clock in the morning, it gives you the S****s! I then asked to
change to a ground floor room, but none were available. The staff did
offer me a discounted upgrade to a Bungalow, which I took advantage of.
Again, the Bungalow room was the same kind of Decor, not like the
gorgeous pics on the net, but, still very clean and spacious. This
bathroom though was quite tired and not as nice as the previous room.
These criticisms were easily over-run by all the positives the Hotel
has to offer. If we ever go back to Bali, we will certainly stay at
The Puri Santrian again.
Excellent hotel
from indonesiaBe careful in hotel though as drinks and food are double what you pay outside the resort.
The only downfall was the ladies up the beach at the back of the hotel, should you fancy a stroll they follow you everyday for "massage" "manicure" which is annoying by the end of your holiday.
I would also recommend on bali Discovery to book a private tour to go to the Kintamani volcano and lake , well worth the money and tour guide (sandy) was asolutely brilliant and taught us so much.
Long Queues for breakfast
from thumbelina2The hot water in the hotel stopped at 9.30pm in the evening which I did not think was reasonable for such an expensive hotel. The bed linen was marked and the cleaners were so enthusiastic they tried to enter the room at 8am so not much chance of a lie-in.
The dinning room was badly organised and didn't have enough tables so when the hotel was full you had to queue for 25 minutes for breakfast. When you finally got your table you couldn't relax because you knew people were waiting for you to finish. Also because the restaurant was open-air the flies were all over the food. I suggest if you plan staying in this hotel you have your meals elsewhere because you can eat much better and much cheaper anywhere else. In fact, I had my worst meal of my entire stay in Bali, at the hotel - a revolting goat's cheese tarte tatin.
Pleasant Puri Santrian
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe stayed 4 nights at Puri Santrian in Nov 2005. Its such a lovely hotel with nice garden compounds and swimming pools. We were upgraded to the Santrian Club room which is very spacious with a large verandah overlooking the Club pool.
The staff is always smiling and they even prepared a breakfast box for us at 4am as we have to catch the 6.30am flight to Yogjakarta. The hotel spa is very lovely and we pampered ourselves with the the massage. But it wasn't as good as we expected.
The hotel has a good location right on the beach with many eating places and shops, all within walking distance. The Kodak shop nearby offers good exchange rate with no commission.
There's security at the hotel front and beach area and it was so in many parts of Bali also. We felt very safe throughout our stay. Everything went almost perfect for us until our visit to Bersakih temple where the temple people there, made it such a horrible experience for us.
Puri Santrian has made our stay so Pleasant and we would highly recommend this hotel.
Really amazing place and such good value
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe swiming pools are all really superb and the Club has its own pool which is exceptional.
We found food very good in the hotel but the best value is to eat on the beach restaurants about 100 metres along the beach to the right. Breakfast costs about US$2.50 and a main dinner about $4. Beer is excellent and good value at about $1.40 for a 630 ml bottle and it really tastes good. The menus are really varied and interesting and the standard excellent. Jet skis are on hire for $25 per 15 minutes on really modern fast models. Taxis are cheap and Den Pasar is only about $10 return, with the driver waiting for you.
There are many comments about the intrusion of the shopkeepers who can be a real pain. Some shops give no hassle and are obviously the ones to patronise.
For various reasons the hotels seem very quiet and poolsside beds were never fully occupied. During the evenings the place seemed a bit like a mortuary, which was very sad as the place has so much to offer. We found many shops changed currency and the rates were good and commision free.
If you want pampering then this is the place and the spa service for manicure/pedicure/massage etc are very good and excellent value.
Security has a high priority with uniformed guards along the beach and all vehicles entering the hotel were thoroughly checked. We felt not the least threatened during the stay. Airport security is very tight and all baggage is sniffer tested by machine, presumably for explosives but maybe drugs - I didnt find out. It does take quite a time to check in and only airline ticket holders are permitted to enter the airport buildings. The duty free seemed quite good.
I have to highly recommend a stay at this hotel and I am sure the same remarks would apply to all establishments on the island.
Top Local Tips for Bali
Travel around Bali, and Diving Get a cab to take you around Bali for a day or two. We got one from the hotel for the first day and then arranged to meet him on another day for a second tour. He took us to great places, after we had explored what sort of things we wanted to see adn do (take phots and eat!). He cost 400,000 (£23) for the whole day and he took us down back streets of Bali and to two very nice resturants indeed. If you are going diving - go in July to September. It is colder and with more tourists, but it is mola mola season and I think all divers should see a such a weird huge fish as a sunfish
Changing Money Go for the more official looking establishments, the smaller ones try to rip you off and always count your money in front of the person you are dealing with.
Barter! Never accept their first price even if it sounds incredibly cheap!
