Top Local Tips for Bali

Beat the crowds Go in the off season, Monsoon is not that bad and generally only rains at night or in the morning, there were a lot less people around and made it seem that much more luxurious. At full capacity it might not have been so great.

Scams Watch out at airport when you first collect luggage. Somebody will come over and grab your trolley then expect a nice tip for their trouble.

Taxi drivers Before arriving we had arranged to take a day tour with a guide. They charge 80 dollars for two people for 10 hours. The day before the tour we came across this taxi driver that said we could pay him 45 dollars and do an 8 hour tour anywhere in the island we wanted. We took tis chance and arranged our own tour .This way we skipped all those shops the guides are taking you. I heard from fellow travelers that those shops are such a scam and waste of time. Of course, we were lucky to get the best taxi-driver! His English were fluent and he was so kind and nice. He was from Tanah Lot taxis and his card has the name "happiness maker" on it. The rest is in their language...
