cheapest way. the central bus station and railway station are opposite each other. You have pre paid auto service from the railway staion. Also there is another bus staion just walking distance from the central staion. It is called east fort. You can avail buses to any part of the city from there. This is the cheapest way to roam around in the city.
Health and safety My third trip to Kovalam, what a lovely place to be. Tourism down this year by 60percent but now more then ever much overpriced. We go every year for 6/7 weeks and rent a house, it still is a lovely place to visit and we have many good indian friends there. For many years now i have taken photos of the rubbish piles and the consistant burning of plastic and rubbish, this still goes on in Kovalam, which is quite a pricy place to visit. You will not find a rubbish bin anywhere and waste is just dumped or thrown over walls and then just piled up and burnt, hence acrid black smoke fills the air all day every day. This year i walked on the back side of Kovalam and was horrified to see an area the lenght of the walkway piled high with rubbish, putrid waterways, rats and mosquitos breeding so badly that the local health authority came in and sprayed the area but it looks like a landfill sight and the locals just dump rubbish day after day, a serious outbreak of Dengi fever in Trivandrum.
