Do not stay in JAS hotel in Trichy or Hotel Mermaid in Kochi/Cochin After checking out of Manaltheeram, Jas was a complete let down. Bad staff and not so good rooms. Our stay in Hotel Mermaid was worse. We are vegetarians and during the lunch buffet, there was a dish w/ brown stuff in it. We asked the staff if it was Tofu or mushroom and they confirmed that it was vegetarian. Turns out it was BEEF!!!!! And my mom almost took a bite. Awful, awful staff and service. In the night, then had rented the lobby for some cultural program and the party went on until after midnight w/ songs playing on the loud speakers. Many guests (including us) complained but management took no action. We could not sleep until the program stopped (at 2 AM in the morning), so beware .....
