i stayed at this hotel with my husband and my little son who really enjoyed as well with us this hotel stay...we got this recommendation from our friends who are based out of shimla and we did not repent our choice...we quite liked the hotel interiors and specially the hospitality of hotel staff...i have referred this place to my friends and family back in delhi as well and we would love to stay at this property next time we visit shimla...all the best

I have stayed at Hotel Combetrmere in the Month of May 2007. The Hotel is situated in the heart of the city with all the modern and luxurious facilities The hotel staff is very courteous and always ready to help, The rooms are newly renovated and interior decoration is done very nicely and tastefully. We enjoyed our stay with all the modern facility which is very rarely available in Himachal Hotels.

Stay away from Hotel Combermere in Shimla

I short listed Combermere after reading their reviews on the net. What a disappointment they were for us. The hotel is located right next to a filthy drain. The luxury suit that we hired was far from anything luxurious. The furniture was in a mess, the table top had decaying plywood. The rooms were dingy and bathroom smelly. And it wasn't a cheap accommodation mind you.

I agree that the hotel has a nice restaurant and other facilities are not bad though almost everything is slightly over priced. The parking facility is good too but the core business of the hotel i.e. rooms, are no good. I would stay away from it in future.

Top Local Tips for Shimla

Arrive by Toy Train from Kalka Take the Himalayan Queen (Toy Train) from Kalka up through the mountains to Simla. Lovely views on this wonderful railway which was opened in 1903. Simla was the summer capital during the days of the Raj and this railway was the last link which cut the journey time from Delhi to Simla. Amazing feat of British engineering which is cut into the bare rock.
