Cenneys is one of the best hotels I have stayed. Provides 5 star facilities at nominal tariff. Hotel staff are really helpful. I felt at home when I am in Cenneys due to its ambience, homely food and courtesy. Complimentary break fast and fruit basket, courtesy pick up and drop, broad band internet, safety locker facility, especilly free comfortable accomodation for the drivers, covered car parking, hygienic safe environs are very useful.
Bitter experience and travellers should be very careful booking this hotel

Its very strange hotel and I had very bitter experience with this hotel. I visited with family and I am not allowed to check in. I have not seen such a hotel any where in this world. I have booked over the phone and the person attended asked my how many guests. I said two people. He gave me confirmation number. We went to the hotel to check in and I was told that they have only Deluxe room and only Single person is allowed to check in. I was totally shocked and surprised. I think all travel sites should give a proper warning while booking this hotel about thier "strange policy" of not allowing family/kids/couples. The travellers too should be very careful while booking this hotel. I feel the hotel management/receptionist should tell upfront that "couples are not allowed. we only allow singles to check in".

Book at your own risk if you plan a family stay

Probably the only hotel in the universe that has the policy "Couples not allowed". Surprised?? Morality at its best? Too ridiculous to be true? ..Read on
We made a phone booking for our stay at Salem and were told to send an email to confirm our booking. On the day of arrival too just before 4hrs of scheduled checkin, we call up and confirmed. After a long journey we pulled into the hotel parking. With wife and kid still in the car, I went to the hotel to clear the formalities. And then I got to hear about a policy which I had never heard before!"Couples not allowed". The fellow at the counter was so damn arrogant - The emails were not working it seems (Hotel has Wifi zone and there is a big hoarding at the reception itself!). The person who attended reservation calls is off and doesnt carry a mobile! Ok great. Look what the Hotel manager is up to. As per the fella, the manager cant be disturbed! whatz his job! However the truthful guy was willing to reveal that this sort of customer complaint is a regular feature! After bit of coaxing, he spoke to manger and offered a room coz of my 10 month kid. And I was more than glad to decline it!
The reason why I went for the hotel is it location and supposedly professional outlook. We were holidaying and nothing else was a key factor.
But their website didnt mention about the unique policy of not allowing couples which would have saved a bit of my headache. Will I stay in Salem again? Hell YES. In a different hotel of course where my family & kid are welcome. Book at your own risk fellas. But yeah there are very good options in the immediate vicinity in case you want to risk and end up in my position!

Visited Salem for medical conference at local medical college/hospital. Probably one of the best hotels you will find in Salem city. Hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I was greeted at the train station and driven to the hotel in a well equipped and clean four wheel drive. I was allotted a room in the first floor. I asked if it was non-smoking; I was given 311 - with an ash tray and box of matches! I asked for it to be changed - one person from housekeeping told me there were no non-smoking rooms - they would simply spray a perfume and remove the ashtray!! Anyway, Room 310 - my final room was quite good.

The two drivers provided to me for travleing within the city knew to drive, but did not know the city at all. So we got lost several times on every occasion. The travel desk was simply unable to provide me with a driver who knew the way.

The staff were courteous and cheerful, though they were not empowered to help. They were functioning as messengers conveying messages to the manager. I think they are good people, but have no authority or freedom to please the customer.

The wifi did not work during my stay, [the rains were blamed for it. I was offered the internet at the business center. The connection there was good.

As I was checking out, I was given a bill for the entire amount, as if I had made no payments at all. Travelguru had already charged my credit card for the room and taxes on August 5. But I was told that the hotel had not received credit from Travelguru. We called Travelguru, and were kept on hold for several minutes. By then, it was time for me to take my train, so I gave my number and left. This was a most exasperating experience. If Travelguru held on to the money for so many [15 dyas], they should be held responsible. If they did remit the money to the hotel as soon as they got it, the hotel ought to be blamed for it.

Very good standards for a 3* hotel. Staff was helpful and polite, and always eager to please. Worst points; only one plug socket in my room (although other rooms had more), and the dining room was a bit dingy.

I rate Cenneys as the best hotel in the city of Salem. The hotel is located at the prime shopping area of the city, Five Roads Junction. Service is too good.
