Westview Hotel in Ranikhet, Uttaranchal State, India lacks integrity in its dealings with tourists. When I arrived there Dec 24, 2005 (with a 2-night reservation through my travel agent), the hotel staff had no intimation of my arrival. Apparently their Delhi Sales Office had failed to inform the Ranikhet staff. The late evening temperature was about 35 degrees Fahrenheit inside the unheated cabin. It would have taken hours for small room heaters to heat up the place. After a 10-hour car trip from Delhi, I was in no shape to wait for in a chilly room until it was heated. The porter even had the gall to ask for additional payment for heat! I left to find another hotel.

Since this error was caused by hotel staff negligence, I felt my prepayment should be returned. Unfortunately, an e-mail and three phone calls to the owner, Ms Anjurikhi, did not result in a refund.

Cisitors - seek another hotel - this one doesn't seem to understand the idea of Customer Service!
