Charming little place. Great service and very good food, specially the buffet breakfast. Also has a wonderful view of the Himalayas ( tip : insist on having a Pine View room ). Only drawback was the innumerable insects that seem to abound in the place. For kids, there is a little playground they will love. Carry your own liquor, cigarettes, medicines and other essential items as it is a good 15 minutes walk (albeit a delightful one)to the nearest shop. The rooms have no telephones though, so booking a taxi has to be done through the hotel staff. My suggestion is to tie up with a taxi owner for the entire duration of the stay, this way it works out to be cheaper. Do not miss out on the Chaubatia Gerdens while in Ranikhet, as also the KRC Army Museum. For those looking for shawls, there is a shawl factory that sells these at a bargain. The hotel often declines credit cards - so carry cash just in case. Tip : go for the AP package where you have all meals included in the tariff. Works out cheaper this way

Top Local Tips for Ranikhet

Chaubatiya Gardens Beautiful fruit/flower gardens in Ranikhet - we went in winter so were unlucky in seeing bare trees - i can only imagine the gardens filled with blossoms and fragrance in spring/summer.

Great food! Step in for the dinner and day-time views

Shop till you Drop The sadar market at the Mall road is a good place to hunt for woollens and dress materials. It is great value compared to nainital.
