The hotel is practically on the train line. You can hear the train every 20 minutes all night long. Staff is indifferent and rooms are overpriced.

Bad Customer Service

I stayed in this hotel because of the ambiance and convenient location. This is a FIVE star hotel with TWO star customer service. Every staff (doorman, restaurant staff, bellboy,) are extremely friendly and nice BUT some of the reservation/checkin staff are not friendly at all. When you have a question regarding making hotel/travel reservation in some other part of the state/country, forget about asking the front desk/concierge...they provide no help. I asked them about freight services to ship the shopping things to US, I didn't hear back anything from them (despite me asking them for atleast 4 times).
When I asked the telephone operator to make a collect call to my credit card company, the operator made an international call and had to pay the international calling bill. The excuse from the manager is that the operator does not know about the collect call. There is not a word of sorry or anything from the manager. When I stayed during my business trip, weekends I used to travel to nearby places. The hotel manager didn't want to keep my ticket and other important docs in the hotel safe (I stayed there for 3 months). I had my birthday during my first week in the hotel. The hotel manager sent roses, cake and cards. I was totally impressed and it gave me a great feeling staying there. BUT lateron the attitude of some of the staff really pissed me off. The hotel wrongly charged my room for a breakfast and I told the front office staff about it three times, every time this one particular guy will say that he'd get back after talking to the manager, but it never happened. If you are looking for a nice place to stay but not expecting any services, this is a very nice place.

Loved it more the second time!

from R.K.Bloomington
We had stayed at this beautiful hotel about six years ago when it was just opening up in Pune. At that time it was not as efficiently run as we experinced this time!
Service was excellent. Rooms were very well stocked with aminities and very clean. Lobby is very impressive and works well for this busy property.
Restaurants were nice except for the outside railway station noise at the roof top restaurant. Breakfast which was included with our room was a great value except food could use some veriation. We stayed for seven nights and enjoyed every day of it!
I think we in USA can learn a lot about hopitality from Pune Le Meridien hotel!!

4th stay and found is good compared to others in Pune

from sandymallik
This was my 4th stay and i am going back this Sunday. Overall a good hotel, however did not like the curtain colours as it doesn't go well with the theme, the checks should be replaced with something more subtle and soothing. Also did not find the furnitures to be good.Love the pool side and the terace...

Great Hotel

from travelleralamundo
Five Star hotel with great service. I stayed on the club level, the accomodations were roomy, fruits, cookies and sweets provided every night I was there. Breakfast was served on the floor I stayed on which was a great convenience in the morning. I did not use the restaurants nor did I venture outside for a walk. There isn't really much to see outside the hotel due to it's location.

I experienced an interesting phenomena in the evening hours when the hotel disco was running. Although I was on the fifth floor, the sound system base could be felt and heard in the bedroom till about 11pm. This could be an issue for light sleepers although it didn't really bother me.

Overall it was a good business hotel and lived up to a five-star rating.

Good hotel, some issues for business travellers

from bristol_traveller_06
This is a good hotel, its absolutely enormous and the staff are great. The restaurants are good, though the peking duck we had was a bit on the dry side I thought. All served as usual in that wierd style in india where they place items on your plate as you eat.

We were there for business and there were initially some issues with the room we were given being too small and problems with the internet connection.

They did finally sort it out by giving us a room in one of the ball rooms which was odd as they put a single table in the middle and had the ornamental sashes on the chairs (as though we were at a wedding). We promptly setup our computer equipment and went to work!

I would stay here, but business travellers should check their needs will be catered to first.

Business maybe Pleasure

from tps23
I've stayed in this hotel 3 times now (and go back agiain on Monday) and like any place it has good and bad bits. It is the best hotel in Pune (so other people that have stayed in other places and here in Pune tell me) I've always stayed on business and the facilities are up to scratch. The rooms are large and have everything you'd expect. The train noise can be heard so if you aren't used to any noise ask to stay on the back of the hotel (away from the staition). The resturants get busy especially the terrace which is very nice in the evening. The gym is good with modern facilites. Pool is tiny so don't be expecting to get a good swim in. The hotel has a night club which on a Wedneday night is dead (one time there was litterally me, my boss and a mouse in there!!), on a Friday/Saturday night the place comes alive but i'd recommend getting out to other night spots although if your a group of men be warned: you won't be allowed on the dance floor without a female partner. Very amusing trying to understand that one after a few beers. There is a power cut every day so watch out if you're in the shower when that happens as it takes a few seconds for the backup to kick in.

Last time i stayed i did get an upset stomach but think it was a rare burger i ate by the pool so make sure everything is cooked propoerly (which it was the 2 times i stayed before)

Pune is a busy large town, its not a city, travel is not fantastic as the roads get very busy especially if you need to go cross town at peak times. Planes are freqently delayed and expect to be searched and checked twice in as many paces.

Hotel is great, best in Pune. But...this hotel is adjacent to the Pune train station. Because indigents sleep near the tracks, trains continually blow their whistles as they arrive, which is all night long. It was nearly impossible to sleep.

Best option in Pune

from Migizi
Stayed here for nearly 3 weeks in September on business. Overall a very good hotel, though not up to what I would consider 5-star standard in all areas. In Pune, from what I have seen, this is the best option (at least until they finish the Sheraton going up near the new convention center).

ROOMS: Average size, nice views, good amenities (minibar, decent TV, desk, etc.). Most importanly, rooms are quiet - I couldn't hear anything from any other rooms, which is my biggest pet peave at many other hotels. Double windows, so most noice is kept out of the room. Cleanliness is OK. Furnishings a bit old and cheap. Condition of bathroom not great, needs work.

FOOD: This is the disappoining spot. There is a buffet and continental restaurant, which is OK, but nothing great. Recommend going on Sundays for lunch, get the build-it-yourself sizzlers. There is an oriental restaurant (Chinese/Japanese/Thai) which is pretty good, but the meats are low-grade stuff (this is true in all the restaurants at the hotel). The India restaurant was pretty good, if you like Indian food. Room service was sub-par, usually cold, not much variety.

SERVICE: The best point of the hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and did anything they could to make my stay a good one. Couldn't ask for more from the people I dealt with in every department.

LOCATION: The bad news is, it's right across the street from the main train station. This is the one noise that penetrated the double windows - train horns, at all hours. Be prepared. Good news is that it is right in the heart of the city, not more than a 30 minute drive from anything.

OTHER: There is a health club, which is small with limited equipment. Pool is on the roof, very elegant, but too small to be very practical for a workout. Rooftop has nice views of city. Be aware that you will pay $3 US for a bottle of water at any of the restaurants. Most other things are cheap. Used Kent Car service for work transit from the hotel, hotel set it up. Driver was Julius, who was great.

Enjoyed the place!......!

from BarnsleyTyke
Spent 12 nights in Pune on business and enjoyed my stay at the Le Meridien.

Check in was quick, and bags taken to room for me by porter. Was originally given a 'twin room which I stuck with for the first night (I arrived at 5.30am so just wanted to sleep!!!). Reception moved me to a double room no problems upon request.
Rooms spacious for the price. Mini bar, kettle supplied for refreshments. Good room service.

The hotel had 3 good restaurants. The main one does buffet breakfast and evening meal (menu also available). Good, wide selection of every food.
The chinese / thai restaurant was a personal fav of mine. Wide choice, and at a good price.
The last restaurant is on the roof top in the open (but covered). is called 'spices and is Indian food. Very nice, but everything was abit too spicy for me!!!

The bar was great, and the staff in there are amazing. Know you by first name (I.e Mr Carl) and always bringing you free snacks etc.

Overall a ideal place for the business man

I stayed at Le Meridien for a week during a business trip to Pune. No need to look any further, this is probably the best hotel in town, without even checking the others. The hotel, ambiance, rooms, staff are all almost perfect.

A few things to note though. The hotel is right next to the train station and a busy street. If the windows in your room cannot completely shut, the noise will come in. This varies between different rooms in the hotel.

Another thing is that while the breakfast is great, both service and contents, the experience I had with the room service was not up to the standards this hotel should keep. Once again the service was right on the mark but the food was average at the most.

About 10 minutes walk from the hotel, if you continue east and then turn right and cross over the tracks, you can find an excellent local restaurant with an unbelievable ice cream place 20 meters away. I don't have the name, but it is in the LP guide.
