The hotel car, confirmed in writing, didn't turn up at the airport for the pick-up. The staff at the hotel insisted up to my departure that the car was waiting at the airport. The room was good but the service left a lot to be desired from.

I should have known that the hotel was going to be less than satisfactory when my taxi driver raised both eyebrows when I told him where I was staying. The service, food, general maintenance and decor were more like a two crown B&B. Have vowed never to stay there again on my future visits. The hotel name is a total contradiction in terms of being Best or Pride.

I can imagine this was once a 4 star hotel some decades ago, but the lack of maintenace and poorly trained staff make for an unpleasant experience for western travellers. Very overpriced for a 2 to 3 star experience.

You can tell that the hotel may have been great...in 1950! The rooms are very out dated. The bed is horrible...my back still aches. The electrical outlets look as though they could catch fire at any moment. The furniture in the living room is cracked. Major upkeep issues with the decor and appliances. Could be a great hotel with MAJOR renovations.

Top Local Tips for Pune

Gandhi Memorial Museum This place doesn't do justice to the nation's hero at all. The place is not maintained well, especially the exhibition boards. It looks like it was put up decades ago and left to rot. Also, there aren't many artefacts that belong to Gandhi and his family/friends to see. It's no wonder there were hardly anyone walking in the grounds.
