I did not stay here. But I had dinner on Sunday last, on the eve of Indian's Independence Day. Because of the heavy tourist traffic, the restaurant was bursting at the seams. The waiters were scrambling around like headless chicken. The service was appalling. The food bad and the ambience deplorable. If you've been there, you'd also be equally harsh with your views. But I guess in a place like Pondy where most are drunk 24x7 it hardly matters !!

Tips on Pondi. Puducherry is 100 miles off chennai. Its around 2+ hours of drive through the east corridor road from Chennai. Within Pondi you can get around by hiring bike or bicycle. A beach, auroville beach and someother auroville related villages etc. are the places to see in Pondi. A set of beach front hotels are available within Pondi town. Its a place for a trip of 2-3 days.

auroville Even the local guides and agents failed to tell us to visit "Auroville" for which we'll have to make another trip!
