A very good Hotel in Delhi

I was at Le Meridien Hotel in Delhi on business for 7 nights. I had arranged for an hotel car to pick me up at the airport. The car was there, and the driver was waiting with a sign with my name. Car was very clean and driver very polite. I would highly recommend one ask for an hotel car to be picked up at the aiport, worth all the money and will avoid a lot of worries. The hotel is well situated, near major shopping bazaar. The hotel is very clean, very good service and has 4 different restaurants. Room service is very good, fast and good food. I used the room service almost daily. Hotel provides guests with bottles of water in room daily. The rooms are spacious and all the furniture is modern. TV is the latest flat screen. Bathrooms has what I call "the super shower" with a lot of power. I also used the health club and the facility is very clean, with several attendents there to help you. Health club has shower, sauna and a enough equipments for one to work out. All equipment in good working condition and very clean. The hotel also has several small shops selling differents item, from carpets to diamonds. Some useful recommendations based on my stay at Le Meridien. Make sure you have a copy of your reservation, and agreed price. They are not too swift and to what I saw, have problems with their computers not always working properly. Make sure you get a room on an upper floor. The hotel is built like a tower with the rooms on the outside. Noises from the lobby can be heard particularly if children are playing. My room was on the 11 floor and I had no problems but I heard from several guests on lower floor of the noise problem. Make sure you give yourself 20 minutes to check out. The hotel has plenty of people for check out but only 2 computers and it can take a while to get your bill ready. I would recommend Le Meridien, good hotel, clean, staff is very polite and always there to help/assist. This hotel is a very good 4 stars hotel. I would give them 5 stars if they improve their check in and check out counter.
Rude staff, comical decor

This might be the worst so-called five star in Asia. The decor is comical - it looks like it was installed in 1961 and not changed since. Then again, to the hotel's credit, it IS remodeling. But that creates other problems. For example, five star travellers will be surprised to learn that remodeling construction noise - hammering, sawing, drilling - is audible in rooms until 9:30 at night. That's right, while you're enjoying your $250/night room, you can also enjoy the sound of Delhi's finest construction workers.
As a whole, the staff are rude, inconsiderate and even snide. I actually had to argue with the desk clerk over my bill - he insisted that I had taken something from the minibar when I had not. That's a first for me, in any class of hotel.
Finally, the gym. It is smaller than the average room, and contains three running machines, an exercise bike, and a weight set ... all for a hotel with 300+ rooms. At the end of the day, it's impossible to even fit in the gym!
Whatever you do, stay elsewhere. The Shangri-La is across the street, and provides better service, accomodations, and value.
Perfect food

Top Local Tips for New Delhi
Getting to the Airport Ask the doorman to get you a taxi. Then when the taxi pulls up, tell him that you have been told that a lift to the Delhi International airport is 300 Rs. If you let them know that you know how much it costs, the taxi driver will not quote you 400+ Rs. Letting the doormen tell the taxi driver will take a lot of stress off of you. It worked for me.
Breakfast buffet The breakfast buffet was well stocked with good quality food.
Buffet Lunch at the Oberoi Great choice, great room, beautiful hotel
