Disastrous night and one that cannot be forgotten when a fire broke out in the basement of the hotel and NO fire/smoke alarm was activated. We had to fight for our lives by throwing furniture towards the window to smash it. We threw the mattresses from our room if we had to jump. We also had made ready a rope made from bed sheets and curtains if we had to use it. Thank god, it didn't come to that but one should remember to ensure that fire safety equipment is in order.

Using a Tuk Tuk or Taxi (often referred to as Auto) Always agree on the price before entering the taxi as they do not use meters and are often chancers. When realising that you are a tourist prices are inflated to ridiculous levels. Also, never ask a taxi driver to recommend a hotel as they will take you to a very bad hotel that often pays commission to the taxi driver. The average cost for about a 30-45min tuk tuk is Rs 80 (Rupees)

Best value Indian food If you are staying in Delhi and looking for good value and great tasting Indian food, go to a resturant in Connaught Place (inner circle) called United Coffee Company. Good size portion food, great taste and selection. The place is really popular with locals and foreigners, so get there early or be ready to wait (they have a guy that handles the waitlist outside in a very friendly and efficient way).
