It also felt like the staff were continually hovering outside our room. It was rare for us to open our door and not to find a staff member not waiting there.
Each time we walked into hotel, various staff members would follow us to our room then ask, "Would you like more beer? Would you like more water? Would you like tea or coffee? Would you like washing done? Would you like your sheets changed?" Once we said no to all these questions, they would continue to hover at the door. The same questioning would happen every time we left our room. Staff members would also regularly come to our room and do the same. It felt more like harassment than service.
My partner eventually, firmly but politely, began telling staff that if we needed anything we would just ask and they did not need to come to our room all the time. This did not change anything.
Each room in the hotel has a loud electric buzzer. The staff often used this buzzer when they wanted to speak to/question us. The noise of these buzzers from the other rooms was also really annoying. My partner and I have visited India on several occasions and we have never felt so harassed or frustrated by service at a hotel.
When we left the hotel, all of the staff followed us out to our cab and waited in a line - it appeared they wanted a tip. It was not forthcoming.
If you can handle the harassment, the room was fine if a bit small.
