Hotel Marina should be condemned!

The hotel is extremely filthy. Rooms were very dirty and bathrooms were mouldy. The staff is very discourteous and nasty. The food was nasty. Hotel Marina needs to be shut down and the building condemned.

The hotel was terrible. It certainly is not a four star. The staff is rude. The place is very run down and is in need of urgent repair. The food is sick.

Description:
The only commendable thing about this hotel is its location being just a few minutes walk to the centre of Delhi. It is advertised as a 3- 4 star hotel, which it may have been years ago, but certainly not now as it has been, badly neglected over the years. Regarding cleanliness it would be lucky to make one star in Europe. There is a rumour that it may be taken over by a major hotel group which probably is the only hope for this place as many millions need to be spent on it

Unique Qualities:
The daily ritual of the staff opening tins of fruit juice for breakfast with a crowbar in view of the customers is an entertainment that is not to be missed.

There is no pool or grounds but bearing in mind the conditions of the rooms and corridors, it may be just as well.

Clearly the owners are aware of the poor condition of this place which reflects in the moderate price for a city centre hotel

Top Local Tips for New Delhi

Be weary of reviews written by the locals. Be suspicious of reviews when it is based on a traveller who resides/lives in India or a similar country. There standards of what is a 3/4/5 star or quality hotel is different from a U.S. or western traveller. If the hotel cost is equivalent to the U.S. than it should meet U.S. standards.

Traffic safety, beggars and frienbly young men For safety don´t cross the busy roads in central Dehli, there are crossings under the road where you can walk. There are a lot of young men everywhere in the center of Delhi who seems nice and friendly and eager to help you find where you want to go for a bit of cash, they can often say that they are students. Don´t follow them.They only take you to different shops for tourists. Donate some money before your trip to a good cause in India, it´s beggars (mostly the Untouchables) everywhere small children families in the streets in Delhi, they will souround you and your heart will bleed for them so try to give something beforehand because you will not be able too help everyone there.
