rooms are very cosy, the old building is nicely made up and from all the room we can see the lake...if you wont go anywhere just sit and enjoy the view of the lake...

Last 30 yrs of paying visit to nainital since my childhood regularly, first time I choose the Grand as my stay with family. Really a place to be adored by its heritage look and above all the hospitality of hotel staff. Would like to visit the same place in future without any second thought.

Grand is a nice hotel. Old, but that's the charm of it. It has old floor, old beds, old windows, but everything spotlessly clean. Sitting in the long shaded verandah is a joy. We ordered food (which needs to be ordered much in advance, as they prepare it on custom order only) on the last day before leaving Nainital, and regretted as to why we didn't have all our meals here. Nainital is better, if you stay at Grand.

The hotel has a large, lovely verandah overlooking the lake (kids ran about all day) and has fantastic views. It's right on the Mall yet a bit away so as soon as we stepped into the hotel premises, we left the noise behind us. The service is nice, quiet and friendly. Most of all, just sitting on the verandah watching the mist on the lake in front of us was so magical - Grand is one place we'll return to again and again!

Great View of the lake - One of the best locations - easily accessible (on the mall road), one of the well maintained heritage properties - excellent service - friendly staff - good food - pretty reasonable. One of the best choices to enjoy the beauty & peace of a hill station - worth recommending.

This is one place where you get to know the actual meaning of peace, comfort and hospitality. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. The view of the lake and easy access to Mall road makes it even more desirable place. It is an old building,well maintained with loads of old time charm. Even during my short stay, I felt at home with the place all the time. Definitely a perfect choice for all those who want to enjoy the peace of a hill station.

I don't know which hotel the earlier reviewer has confused the Grand with... You won't find a better located or friendlier hotel in Nainital.. It's one of the oldest and so has great atmosphere which I suppose could be misinterpreted by some people.. I enjoyed my stay very much and would happily recommend it..

Great location but it stops there. Rooms are dirty and I have not seen worse beds in a hotel. Bathrooms are dark and the bed swith lights a bulb near the ceiling. In all it is a badly maintained building. Think about staying here if it comes free.

Oh the hotel is marvelous, I haven't dreamt also such a nice hotel and so cheap also. Almost all facilities are available here except golf, otherwise you can enjoy swimming, billiards, TT, and many more. Although the no. of rooms are less but the hotel is very beautiful in itself. Almost all room has view of the lake in front of the hotel. At last I will say I had enjoyed the trip to Nainital and If I get another chance to visit Nainital Grand hotel will only my destination.
 

Top Local Tips for Nainital

Kempty Falls: Female travelers please avoid this place The women in our group were Eve-Teased by a bunch of locals (20 odd hooligans) at the falls. The local shop keepers had an astute apathy towards the tourists and had a 'i don't care' kind of an attitude. Lousy experience and will never go back there...

Women, Please do not go to Kempty Falls alone... There are too many local hooligans who are just waiting for an opportunity of eve-teaing and harrassing women tourists. BE AWARE AND EXTREMELY CAREFUL of such goons!!!!

Best Time to Visit Mussoorie The best time to visit Mussoorie is from mid-April to mid-July and also from mid-October to November. If you're willing to save money on hotel booking visit the place between 15th March to 15th Apriil when hotel rates are 30-50 % low than peak season rates that starts from 16th April every year.
