rickshaw drivers The auto-rickshaw drivers are especially aggressive in Madurai, be careful! I had one driver get so angry at me (after he agreed upon a price), he chased me into the hotel and threw the money at me! Be strict with them about the price but if it comes down to it you might just have to pay their newly inflated price.
Madurai Please ensure that you go to the evening ceremony at the Temple as well as visiting during the day.Many of the shops facing the Temple encourage you to go to their rooftops to see the Temple from high. Although they obviously want you to buy something from them, they really are not too pushy and the view is magnificent.Restaurants are few and far between so the best bet is to eat in your hotel. Visit the Rock Temple (about 1/2 hour drive from Madurai) it is fascinating.
