We enjoyed 2 nights in this beautiful palace hotel. The architecture and opulent furnishings are exquisite. The gardens are lovely, the perfect setting for a romantic dinner served on the lawn under the stars. We splurged on a luxury suite. It was under one of the magnificent cupolas situated at one end of the building. The decor was an amazing Safari theme with a full wall hand painted with a mural of a tiger in a jungle scene. The furnishings were very rich with sofas and pillows in gorgeous colourful fabrics. We even had our own 'butler' who took care of us very well. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip to India.

Top Local Tips for Jaipur

Bring your medicine. India is hard on a body. You'll see germs you never saw before and will never want to see again. Get every vaccine your doctor recommends (Mine gave me a little talk when she heard that I went without seeing her first; her list of diseases I risked was scary.) They don't have regular drug stores, either. They have these little chemist shops, where the chemist will sell you anything without a prescription. However, despite the first-world prices and possibly without the knowledge of the chemist, that drug may well be counterfeit, i.e. useless. So bring lots of regular patent remedies, too. We used everything we brought. We were especially appreciative of the decongestant and the anti-diahreal medicine.

Travel to Jaipur Avoid the road journey from Delhi by taking the daily Jet airways or Kingfisher flight which takes just 40 mins. Jaipur can even be done as a daytrip from Delhi by air if you are really pushed for time, be sure to splash out with lunch at the Rambagh Palace.

Experience the evening Go out and enjoy city life in the evening. GO to temples, gardens and palaces.
