We were looking fot somewhere different to stay and were prepared for shabby grandeur but not for grubby rooms, cockroaches and poor service. We paid more to stay here than the 5 star shereaton in Agra and expected to find basic standards of cleanliness and service but both were lacking. A great shame as the gardens and pool were beautiful. A place to avoid.

Indiana Restaurant - "complemetary" Rajasthan Dancing!! Get your taxi driver to take you to the Indiana restaurant from 7pm - Its great fun. Good food, good service, and good prices. Watch out for the flame dancers.

Charming fort a little out of town Check out Castle Kanota, about 15km out of Jaipur. It's quite inexpensive for a heritage hotel and exudes charm. You can have a moonlit dinner on the terrace. The staff - who start feeling like cousins -- will bring a fire so you can sit on the verandah for a cozy drink. They grown their own vegetables and fruits, have their own dairy, and cook amazing traditional meals from the family recipe book. It's great for families too: horse and camel rides for the kids, turkeys and cute little dogs running around. Very well maintained with their own Shiva temple as well.
