Historical Traveller Reviews of Jai Mahal Palace Hotel

From the time you drive thru the iron gates, you will be Wowed!!!
The staff and facilities were amazing. We loved the rooms and the grounds. The breakfast buffet was just OK. Nothing to write about. But the Italian restaurant is great. Love the attention we got at the
Jai Mahal Palace. We hated to leave.

Best hotel ever!

What can I say about this place? It was perfect! We loved it so much that we wish we had the money to go back again!! The grounds are amazing. We stayed in a suite and it was the best hotel room we have ever had (and we have travelled around quite a bit). It was super clean and just brilliant. The service at breakfast is slow (and I think the breakfast selection could have been improved upon), but the evening dining was great. There were weddings going on outside the grounds during our stay (we stayed 3 nights) and it just added to the atmosphere. The Cinnamon restaurant was great with tasty food all round. We loved Jaipur as a whole, and this hotel really was the cherry on the cake.

Pricey but Perfect

It's amazing how much the Taj Group has improved over the past couple of decades. Today the name is prety much synonmous with flawlessly run properties. The Jai Mahal is no exception. Our room was large, pretty and clean and comfy and had a little deck with chairs so we could sit outside. We had lunch (slow service) and breakfast in the garden. The staff were very helpful. The rooms had wifi. Really nothing to complain about at all.

t Fault It

A beautiful place to stay; formerly a palace and set in large grounds with a good pool . Luxury rooms are really something and standard ones are what you'd expect of a four star hotel. Service and food were both excellent.

As with other hotels in the Taj group food and drinks were expensive in Indian terms ( although a little cheaper than Delhi), but converted into most Western currencies still work out much cheaper than you'd expect to pay at home in a similar class hotel.

I'll be back there when I manage to get to Rajasthan again!

Lovely and Quiet place to say

from blondeinsf
This hotel is not your typical hotel but is actually a palace - instead of a hotel built to look like a palace. Although it's "downtown" it's secluded and set back from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Once you head down the drive you feel like your in the countryside. Although we arrived late in the evening we were warmly greeted with flowers and drinks. The room was beautiful and didn't have that "hotel" feel to it - the only way I can think to describe it is that it felt more like an "Inn" with the large bed and antique type furnishings.

Since my friend wanted me to try Rajistan food we were happy to see it was on the menu and proved to be delicious. I found the food prices reasonable and similar to what I paid at other hotels.

I recommend it!

Renovations in progress

We had a varied experience both good and bad.

First the bad. They were renovating unknown to us prior to our arrival. The street noise is easily heard from our room. However.......

We complained and the manager upgrade us to a suite, gave us a complimentary massage, some roses and a cake. So they tried hard to make up for it. The food in the Marble Arch restaurant was excellent. The staff were very friendly and wanted to help. The massage was great - treat yourself!

We were going to stay 2 nights but cut it short and moved our location.

Fantastic hotel

Our stay at this hotel was really amazing. From the wonderful welcome to our late departure everthing was great. The food is extremely expensive but very good. A can of soda costs Rs150 which is almost the price of a meal elsewhere in India. Cinamon restaurant was beautiful and the presentation and individual service there was highly commendable. The manager painstakingly explained the composition of each meal to us. The live entertainment every night is beautiful and very relaxing. The rooms and bathrooms could do with a bit of a makeover as they look a bit old but the fantastic service made up for that.

Great Hotel

This hotel was a treat. Lovely grounds, beautiful building, excellent staff and great food. We stayed in Feb 06 and would recommend it. A couple of the staff were exceptional. It is a short ride to Johari Bazaar and we took a tuk tuk, at half the price of the hotel taxi it was a worthwhile experience. 200R both ways and the taxi driver waited about one and a half hours for us to shop.

A real treat

Not the cheapest (like most Taj Hotels), but a fantastic hotel with bags of charm.

The hotel has great surroundings, large traditionally furnished rooms, a lovely pool, great Indian food and a fabulous poolside Italian restaurant. We stayed four nights there and loved it. Easy to get around - five minutes from the walled city.

We visited the other Taj in Jaipur - the Ram Bagh Palace - for a meal one evening which is even more ornate and a bit more formal but preferred the feel of the Jai Mahal.

Friendly staff although bar/restaurant service sometimes a bit slow: Worth a stay.

Five star hotel with two star service and 3 star facilities

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed in this Taj Hotel was told it is a palace with five star facilities but on staying the service is horrible, except for beautiful garden the building is no where like a palace , the restaurant marble arch is like a garment shop this is no where above a three star hotel the classification commitee in india
should look at this immediately.

Top Local Tips for Jaipur

Fabrics A great place to buy fabrics at a ridiculous low price. These guys export to Libertys so you know it is OK and they will DHL it over to you. Have just received ours.

play if u found of it Has lots of activities 4r kids and even 4r sport lovers ...

Getting the most of the attractions Amber Palace is a must. Get there for 8.30 a.m. to beat the crowds for the half kilometre uphill elephant ride. The 15 minute drive through the city and the hills outside Jaipur is beautiful in the quiet morning. The Place is lovely, after the Taj Mahal, the most impressive place that I saw. the level of detail work in the mirrored areas was beautiful. The kids loved the elephant ride.
