This is the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in (and I include youth hostels in that grouping). The unfriendliest staff and the most ridiculously bureaucratic check-in procedure. After checking in, we saw the rooms and were appalled. The doors didn't shut properly. The fan looked as though it would fall off any second. The airconditioning was deafening. Cockroaches were running around, alongside some other unidentifiable bugs, the shower was disgusting and required shoes to be worn at all times - even in it. We were given about 8 pieces of toilet paper. The sheets and towels were dirty and no beds were made the following day.

I was appalled. If I had paid £2 per night for this and there were backpackers and some sort of life, I may have found the experience acceptable.

Top Local Tips for Jaipur

Beware of cheats We were taken by the autorickshaw dealer to what he termed as the RTDC shopping centre. Now, RTDC stands for Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation of India. But we found out later from the RTDC hotel that this RTDC shop was not theirs at all but was used to lure tourists who believed in the logo of RTDC. It actually stands for Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. The place is a fraudulent one and do not go there no matter how persuasive the rickshaw driver is. They sold us some quilts and promised to deliver them free of cost to our home. On receiving the quilts, we found that not only were we expected to pay the post office some transportation charge but we also had been sold something that we had not ordered. The quilts had a design that we had specifically said we didn't like and that we had not ordered and the quality was poorer than we had seen at the shop. The shop is in Gayatri Market and should be definitely avoided although prices are more competitive.
