Beautiful Lake View

When i first arrived at the Hyderabad Airport I was a bit confused to see the taxi or auto guys asking for higher amount, as I am familiar with the place it won't cost that much, I asked the reason and came to know that they are on strike and after 10:00AM they wont come, luckily i was there at 6:00AM....so at last i got a guy with some fair amount and went to some hotel to book...but no rooms were available so i said the auto guy to stop at one corner and took out my laptop and searched for the hotels. Luckily, I got few hotels displayed on the screen...took out my mobile and contacted each one, at last i got one in hotel "Taj Banjara ".
After reaching there I went directly to check in... I was in a bit hurry so i have not observed the sorroundings. I got a warm welcome from the recieptionists and booked a room for me. The room was quite and good looking and a bit state of the art kind, this made me to relax quickly.
Now after that I went to the window to have a look at the city...now i observed a small beautiful lake at the hotel it was looking nice. Slowly now I am engaging myself with the nature and all the stress went out, which was due to journey.
There was Tea and some Snacks waiting for me, I had them. And went out to attend some personal meetings, by the time I finished all the work and reached the hotel it was around 2:00PM.
Had lunch and had a nice relaxing sleep in my suite.
In the evening one of my friend in Hyderabad came to meet me at Taj Residency. Both of us came down at the ball room where many of them are enjoying their evening. We spent the time there having small amount of red wine with roasted chicken. Guys it was very delicious and both of us enjoyed the evening by recalling our college days. My good friend left at around 9:00PM. I went back to my sweet suite and ordered some chapatis with non-veg.
In the morning I came out of my suite to have a morning walk around the hotel. It was located in a very nice place beside a small lake, the guys there have started their work cleaning the place to maintain its dignity look.
I came back and checked out at around 9:30AM....it was very memorable day for me there as i have achieved personally few things when i stayed in "Taj Banjara". For me it is always a special one.

Great hotel to stay in. I stayed here for almost 2 months. Staff is extra personable and attentive. Food is excellent. Nearby shopping and easy to find cabs. Rooms are great. Front Desk staff will exchange money for you. Nightlife nearby or easy to get to.

A great business hotel

The Taj Banjara is a great business-style hotel in Hyderabad. Compared to the other 5-star hotels I've stayed in in Hyd, the main difference is in the service. At the Taj Banjara, the service is much more laid back, and thus generally makes things simpler. For example, the room service usually arrives in about 15 minutes and you can seat yourself in the coffee shop.
The Indian and western food items are both good. Though, the selection, especially after 11:30 is a bit limited. I enjoyed being able to eat outside by the lake at Kabab e Bahar, but be sure to bring some insect repellent. One downside is that neither of their bars has beer on draught.
I had a pre-renovation room. It was fine, though the bed was certainly ready for replacement. Also, it only had two outlets at the desk, which just isn't enough for all of the devices that most business travelers travel with. The sheets were really comfortable, one category where most Indian hotels fall down badly.
All-in, I like the Banjara for a business trip. But, if you're looking for a place to be fawned over, this isn't it.

I had been to Hyderabad on a business visit when I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights.
Its a very good hotel located in the prime Banjara Hills locality of Hyderabad.
The food was outstanding ( sepcially the hyderabadi biryani ). The hotel is truely a 5 star category and reasonably priced for the comforts it offers.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I happen to visit Hyderabad.

Excellent hotel

Since it was our first time travelling to India, we were not sure what to expect from the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised, to say the least. The hotel itself is very clean , the rooms are standard (by North American standards) but very comfortable. Nice bathroom, room safe, mini bar, free bottled water. Slippers, robes, adaptor, ironing board and additional hangers are available upon request. There is no alarm clock, so bring your own.
The gym was very adequate and we made full use of it everyday. They have 3 restaurants in the hotel of which we ate almost every meal at the Waterside Cafe buffet. The food was so wonderful and diverse. If you love Southern Indian -this is for you! In the mornings, they do serve Western style options, but we preferred their specialities. Siva at that restaurant was the shining star here...ask for him if you are in the restaurant. Of the two others, we tried the thai restaurant which was great, but we prefered to live with the local fare. We did not try the Tandoori style restaurant as it was on outdoor restaurant by the lake and we did not want to attract the mosquitos! Also, the lake is almost stagnant so the smells omitted are not very pretty...or appetite inducing.
The staff is the biggest reason I would go back to this hotel while in Hyderabad. Everyone is so helpful and service is way above anything I have experienced in North America (we are from Canada). From the front desk, the hotel car drivers, the business center staff to the restaurant staff!!

I really disagree with the other negative review of this hotel as my experience would not be farther from it. The hotel was furnished to an extremely high standard and the staff were attentive and courteous at all times- greeting me with smiles and always offering to carry bags and help me out in general. The setting is pretty nice as it is set back from the hustle and bustle of the city. My only minor ciritism is that the food in their 'western-style' restaurant was not great and was really an Indian approximation of western food. I found in general that western-style food does not work that well in India (such as all the pastries at breakfast) and that they should stick to what they do extremely well which is local dishes.

We stayed in this hotel on business for 2 nights. Overall the stay was ok - not great. There is a large lake outside the hotel which has a distinct stagnant smell. There are also a large amount of mosquitoes and flies.
We found the hotel cars to be dirty and of poor quality.
The bar area is ok a bit too open as it is in the main lobby area. We did go to the resturant downstairs for one meal which was lovely.
The rooms were basic and clean, as we stayed in the newly furbished ones. On the upper floors they are larger but old fashioned. The housekeeping people enter your room while you are in to put towels on your bed and wont leave until you tip them. I found this very unsettling and annoying.
Overall I would not return to this hotel or recommend it

Just been back from Hyderabad on an official tour and stayed in Taj Banjara. The hotel is located in a central locality in the posh Banjara hills area (posh by Hyderabad standards). The hotel is a bit old; but is compensated by the service standards of the hotel. The rooms are of an average size but very neat and tidy and comfortable (the housekeeping staff visits twice a day). It’s got all the amenities which a business traveler needs including wi-fi accees (for a fee, of course), tea/coffee maker, minibar and a safe locker.
The hotel has got some good restaurants which are definitely worth a visit. But do check out the ‘Under Deck’ bar, which has got an underwater theme. They have the wonderful concept of ‘liquor buffet’ where for a very paltry sum you can have unlimited amount of liquor (Indian Made Foreign Liquor only) plus 2 snacks (one non-veg & one veg dish) between 7 to 9 pm. They make some great cocktails as well.
The pool is not very large. They also have not so bad Gym.
Overall a great experience and would definitely stay again.

Top Local Tips for Hyderabad
See the local attractions Visit the local tourist attractions. Wear sunscreen, cover up, do not go out during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of bottled water, and remember, this is not a highly toured city for Westerners so if you are a white woman, be prepared to be the center of attention. Bring a headscarf for temples and a pashmina helps when needing to cover up.
Hyderabadi Pearls Hyderabad is a good place to buy good quality yet inexpensive pearls in India. Hyderabadi perals are famous for quality and finish and latest designs.
Do not forget shopping Yes...its recomended to all who visit Hyderabad to go for shopping. Especially in the areas like Charminar, Koti.
