Top Local Tips for Darjeeling

Train ride - Ghum joy ride not recommended The toy train's joyride which takes you from DJ to Ghum and back, is really not worth the time. If you must enjoy the toy trrain you must do it for a longer journey where the train passes thru the valley also. Upto Ghum it it mostly over the road, so all you see is the chaos of the city. The nice part if the steam engine whistles, but still the idea is to gi through the green valleys in the little train just like the song in Parineeta !

Taxi Drivers Most drivers drive recklessly and fast on the bumpy and tortuous mountain tracks. Make sure you hire a comfortable vehicle driven by a responsible driver. Drivers employed by the hotel where you intend to stay are highly recommended

from airport always take a shared cab from airport or railstation while getting to darjeeling. much cheaper always
