Top Local Tips for Chennai

Good place to eat We ate at a few places in Chennai (includingt he Taj), though found the Copper Chimney on Cathedral Rd to to a really good place to eat. The CC is a very clean and stylish restaurant, with a glass fronted kitchen allowing you to watch the chefs. It serves Indian dishes to a mixture of Chennai families and expats. Prices are extremely good for the quality of the food / service. Next door (upstairs) is a trendy bar, which also serves Tapas.

Stay on Club Residency Floors By staying on the Residency Club floors you not only get a nicer room but also free hot breakfast served in lovely private Club restaurant and free transportation to and from the airport. Rent hotel cars with drivers for CLEAN cars and great, reasonably priced daytime excursions.

gifts I took a pair of jeans that didn't fit anymore. When I asked one of the receptionists if she thought they would fit her, she said, "I'll make them fit." I was surprised at how happy she was. These young people make so little money compared to the rest of the world. My husband empties his suitcase each time we go and in additon to tips, gives most of his clothes to the young bell boys. They seem so grateful. I know my closet is bulging with clothes I no longer wear. I must remember to throw in a couple pairs of jeans each time I go. They are the most coveted item.
