My room at the The Raintree, was so good that after a long ady at work I decided to unwind at the hotel itself. On arrival, I was escorted to my room by the Mgr and through my company had booked me in the deluxe room, I was upgraded on arrival to the club floor. A great pool and bar facing the pool, seems to be the most frequented place among the expats in Chennai.

Must Stay, for sure.

I checked out from the hotel yesterday after nearly staying for one month along with my wife and kids, before I could move into my new apartment. My company booked me here before they could find accomadation for me in an apartment.

My kids are not too fond of Indian food, the chef took and rest managers took special care to cater to their needs and also orgainsed a small little B'Day party for the little one.

The rooms are reasonably sized, but had a little with the internet. The complimentary breakfast is pretty good. Staff are pretty friendly. During our stay in Chennai, we would for sure frequent the hotel.

This hotel is definately the best place to stay in if you visit Chennai and you need to be located in the heart of the city but in a quiet corner.

The rooms are lovely decorated with beautiful marble bathroom, stunning shower and comfortable bath tub.

Highly recommend the Hotel.

Stayed at the Raintree for 4 days, until yesterday. Very well appointed rooms, great location, wonderful restaurants and great service. Right from the door man to the room service staff, all were committed to make my stay the best. The hotel has a very minimailisic decor (a break from hotels, which I usually stay). Staff at Rainbow, took all efforts to provide great food, although it is a little overpriced.
Newspapers were provided every morning along with complimentary fruits. Overall it was a great stay- I intend to stay again.

The hotel is centrally located. The service was personalised and every demand was fulfilled with a smile. The rooms have wi-fi connectivity and were large and very clean with all the amenities you would expect at a good hotel.

Possibly the Worst Hotel in India

If you are looking for a hotel where you can actually sleep, then this is not the hotel for you. Facilities are great but this is my second stay and everynight they have banquets and parties on the 2nd Floor, I was on the 4th and 5th Floors and the walls in my room were still vibrating at 11pm at night. The bass sounds were actually louder than passing aircraft. Despite numerous attempts, the management were totally ineffective and were unable to manage the noise, by my estimation in excess of 20 guests were complaining and still nothing was done.

Was at The Raintree last week. Enjoyed every bit of my stay ....have an amazing time.. not to mention one of the happening pub in town "havana" and ofcourse above sea level..Excellent place!! Will always come back..:)

I stayed at the Raintree for a few days and found it to be a lovely place - good food, rooms etc. On the last day, I found 1 wall lizards perched over my bed and another strolling across the pillow, which given my phobia towards them means I will never return to that place again.

Stayed at the Rain tree for a week on work. I enjoyed myself..thanks to the lovely view, delicious food and service. Try the rooftop.

The food quality is very poor... Service, poor maintenance, noise pollution, even you can see flies (home) on the food.

Top Local Tips for Chennai

Chennai gets better Ten years ago I thought this was one of the least attractive cities I had ever been to. It now seems almost transformed and it seems to be a pleasant place. (And the traffic is, by Indian standards, not too bad at all). There are only a few historic sites for the tourist to inspect but Chennai now seems to make a good gateway to southern India for the tourist and well worth a few days stopover.

Oasis in Chennai Visit shops like Evoluzione, Rehane and ManMandir in Nungampakam in Nawaz Khader Road. Also visit Chaintanya Rao in the same road for exclusive designer experience

Coffe Chennai has some great coffee houses. Very close to The Raintree is a popular one called Chamiers. Its definitely a must go while your in Chennai.
