Was pleased at first glance, but then realized the reality of the situation. Cockroaches in room (I killed several with my shoe), lizards crawling around the walls, rats in the restaurant. Housekeeping never managed to provide me the complimentary soap or shampoo despite repeated calls - I had to go to the main desk for soap and never actually managed to secure shampoo. I did not encounter housekeeping maintaining the room nor did I find any evidence that they actually did, even once. Good thing it was only two days and one night. Would be a very good place to stay if they maintained a minimal level of service, cleaning, and maintenence in the rooms. No internet despite the fact that it was advertised.

The MGM Grand has a superb location near the Marina Beach, but is showing a bit of wear. The bathroom is slightly dingy, the A/C does not always work, and the restaurant is fairly basic. The section of beach near the hotel is home to many people, so the sand is fouled. Nearby is San Thome Cathedral, and Mylapore is a short walk.
