Prepaid Taxi Service from Chennai Airport Taxi services from Chennai Airport: My family and I travelled a couple of times from the Chennai airport during our visit in Jan '09. We used the prepaid taxi services available both at the domestic and the international flight sectors. There are 2 prepaid taxi companies available. One is through the TamilNadu Tourism center and the other was 'Aviation Express' ( both counters are side by side and are hard to miss as you wheel your baggage out). We used the Aviation express taxi's as we were told that the cars were of better quality. We prepaid the fare at the counter . The fare is determined by the no. of passengers, baggage count and size, and distance travelling. We ( 3 individuals) paid Rs 400 ( approx $8) for our drive from the airport to the KKNagar with 3 moderately sized luggage and a backpack. Ours was a AC'ed Toyata van and the drive was smooth and hassle free. Another advantage is that the drivers are well versed with the Chennai traffic and so is less hassle free even if relatives are there to pick you up at the airport. Ofcourse, the traffic in Chennai is a nightmare with no law that I can comprehend ( the bolder and mightier gets the way!) and so my advice would be to trust your driver and relax back in the seat as he gets you to the destination.
