Shatabdi Express You can take the express train (Shatabdi Express) from New Delhi to Chandigarh. The trip is 3 hours long. The Express train is really reasonably priced. It is very comfortable with excellent service including meals serviced during the trip (2nd Class AC chair)
Boat trips on the lake are fun Although (like many things in India) its a little chaotic getting a boat, it is well worth a leisurely trip in a pedal boat on the lake if the weather is not to hot.
Paddle boats on the lake. If its not too hot, don't miss a paddle boat ride on the lake. It can be a bit chaotic trying to get a boat (be assertive), but its well worth it. Pretty unique experience for Indians, so its great fun watching families enjoy themselves.

01).Location: In Sec 17 this is the downtown you cant get a better location.
Size of rooms:Old hotel so room size is quite big in the deluxe category. The standard is quite small though.
Food : The portions are generous & the quality barring a few exceptions is generally quite good.
Service: This is a Govt of Punjab hotel still the staff is quite courteous & polite.A small tip will raise the level even higher!!
Tariff:INR 4000 less 10% discount (USD 80)
Summary:Overall a good hotel with good value for money & this may not be the most luxurious or sophisticated hotel in town (Taj is next door but at double the tariff) but theres no cause for complaints.
