A MOST ENJOYABLE HOLIDAY
from A TripAdvisor MemberYes the rooms were basic but clean even if a little tired, and in need of decoration.
The food choice was limited but adequate on request the chef was more than willing to facilitate any request for food not on the buffet.
The pool was small and there was not enough sunbeds but having said that we preferred the beach which we found to be clean and once you saw the shipwreck we got used to it and we didnt let it spoil our holiday.
At the end of the day its a third world country and i dont know what some people expect for the price they are paying. We enjoyed our holiday that much that we are rebooking for November
Excellent Service Great People
from Andy09Nice staff, shame about the rest
from suzieblooThe shower leaked into our bedroom, the windows/patio doors do not fit flush & there is a 3mm gap from the lintels. The televison frequently cut off for hours at a time (not very good if you're stuck in your room with a dodgy tum, which most guests were at 1 point in their holiday).
They had a problem exchanging Scottish notes & told us to use the facilites across the road (better exchange rate anyway).
The internet facilities were non-existent as were any facilities for children.
The local beach was dirty, strewn with plastic waste & dirty nappies. We even found 2 hypodermic needles on our 1st & only visit. The 'shipwreck' is an eyesore & salvage would be good.
Food hygiene leaves a lot to be desired, as does the repetative menu. Go across the road to The Lighthouse where Sanjay & Donna will provide an excellant varied menu, including a good American burger!
Cannot fault the restaurant/bar staff, the security guards or our housemaid. Some of the nicest people you're ever likely to meet.
There is no doubt that Goa is 1 of the most beautiful places I have ever visited but alas Whispering Palms, Candolim is not 1 of them.
Take my advice, go to Arpora, Baga or even South Goa, but leave this out of your itinerary.
Disasterous all inclusive
from lin53Breakfast had little English choices and curry is not appealing in the morning. Every day , no cups (always chipped when they did finally arrive), 10 minute wait, then no teabags, 10 minute wait, no milk, total disaster, walk out & go to Ganesh beach shack for tea and breakfast. Food lunch and dinner was barely warm, repetitive & always covered in flies. Food area was not clean and service slow. The snack menu had a choice but only about 2 items were ever available. The 'a la carte' menu had several itmes which were not available. Many guests complained about stomach upsets and several guests joined together and complained to the manager.
Few sunbeds and sparse room around pool for number of guests. The pool area was full of tables for people to eat which meant no room for sun bathing and no where nice to eat with out getting splashed from the pool. Bad set up all round.
Balcony could not be used as air conditioning unit flooded balcony. Management did place bucket under leak but room maid did not empty bucket which had overflowed by the time you returned from beach.
Never any clean glasses behind the pool bar. Long wait while staff frantically tried to locate glasses and wash them. Although all inclusive, the bar one early evening had no Vodka.
Staff were pleasant but it appeared that who ever owned the hotel was happy to take the profits and not invest any money back into hotel improvements.
Thank goodness for the Ganesh shack on the beach. Good food unlike the buffet food in the hotel did not upset stomachs. Ganesh, his sister and staff were so helpful, amusing the baby, organising taxis and trips, they compensated for our awful hotel choice. They were even willing to cook the meals of your choice so you could enjoy an evening meal on the beach. If you go to the beach this is the shack to go to for good service and value.
Several guests did state that they had stayed at Whispering Palms 4/5 years ago and could not believe how rapidly it had gone from good to dire. I would not recommend ths hotel to anyone unless they lower their prices to reflect 1* plus prices.
No Thanks
from A TripAdvisor MemberBadly Managed Hotel
from dollydesai211The Hotel facilities are not up to catering for the number of rooms, now over 100 not 66 as advertised. We had to take all-inclusive as there was no alternative but we didnt eat much as the buffet food was hardly warm. I think this prevented us getting ill as many of the guests were suffering from tummy problems. The general cleanliness in the restaurant and bar areas was poor dirty tables etc.So we ate elsewhere a lot of the time, the Ganesh Shack on the beach is very good.
We never used the sunbeds or pool as with 220 guests and 40 sunbeds there was no chance and whole area much too crowded. Except for two nights the evening entertainment was almost non-existant.
In all a very badly Managed Hotel where even the Waiters went on strike after New Year.
I would not return or recommend
New Yr in Goa
from Jen40rdThe hotel is clean, staff are friendly & their is a good selection of indian food.
If you dont like indian food then this isnt the hotel to stay in as there is very little choice of english alternatives. However, it is so cheap to eat out I found myself regretting I had gone all inclusive in the first place. That is nothing bad about the hotel though, just a bit of advise in general - B & B is deffinatly a better option.
The resort itself is fantastic, the beach lovely but you have to walk 100m up the beach away from the washed up shipwreck which I felt added character to the beach of Sinquerim.
Goa is fantastic, cheap and the Whispering Palms resort is excellent quality, there are few sunbeds around the pool and if you like to stay by the pool you will need to get up early however, sunbeds are free on the beach as long as you buy a drink from the shack that the sunbeds belong.
100m from the hoel beach is Ram's Shack - we spent all of our holiday there & drank about 10 beers a day at the shack for £3.
Best holiday I have ever been on - take sweets & pens for the kids & go with an open mind.
Its fantastic.
Fantastic time......

great food anywhere don't worry about not getting food you will like there are loads of resteraunts selling everything
Mossies Jan /Feb best time to go seems no mossies
i would definatly recommend: i would definatly recommend: 1) the spice gardens. you get to go around a spice garden with an employee and they give you a tour of what the locals grow and eat. you also get to see the "monkey man" who is the person to go up into the trees to collect the fruitage. he does a little performance for you and you will be amazed. afterwards you get to have lunch which is also an experience! (washing the elephants here i wouldnt recommend as we saw snakes in the water as it was about waist deap. 2) elephant ride and wash. we went to an elephant reserve and had an amazing experience with the elephants we went into a little stream and got to sit on the elephants back while he sprayed us, it was fantastic. if you ask the taxi men outside of the hotel they will sugest where is best to go if you are unsure. 3) a night market. this was an unreal experience and one that i enjoyed. however others in our group didnt. you shouldnt be afraid to haggle with the locals as its what they expect.
