Historical Traveller Reviews of Trident Hilton Agra Hotel
An oasis of calm
from noelabComfortable Hotel near the Taj Mahal
from skepticatheist2Nice stay
from traveller55555This hotel has also a very nice shop with lots of souvenirs, handcraft and books, where the prices are very reasonable (some stuff we bought from Hilton was much more cheaper than for example in Jaipur - exactly the same things!)
We really enjoyed the swimming pool, although there was very many mosquitos and other insects there.
Lovely stay at Hilton Agra
from spendingpensionThe bed was not a double but two twins pushed together and made up as two twins.
Breakfast was limited buffet. Pool bar food was OK but small portions of average quality.
Service fine except for check out when the extras charged in Rupees were converted to US dollars at some appalling exchange rate.
Surprisingly great hotel!!
from nyguy990The breakfast is good and highly recommended. Overall, much better than the nearby Mughal Sheraton. Only the Amarvillas is better but then its 3 times as expensive and seemed too upscale for us.
Beautiful hotel
from roseCanadaI highly recommend this hotel and its so close to the Taj also.
enjoy
Great Stay
from cjaAlthough the hotel look kind of deserted...must be because I arrived at 11pm and headed off to the Taj Mahal next day at sunrise! I'd stay at this hotel again should I ever come back to visit Agra.
It was perfect for me
from pickyconsumerTrue, the Trident is not a palace but frankly when you are travelling in India and are seeing Forts, Palaces, or the Taj Mahal during the day, it is nice to come back to a hotel that feels more like 'home' than a palace. The Trident is very comfortable, clean, welcoming, and tranquil. The room was spacious even with the extra cot. The staff is competent and friendly without being intrusive. We ate the buffet lunch and the buffet breakfast and both were surprisingly good. Lots of choices and tasted good too.
All in all, we had a great, hassle-free experience. It was one of our best days in India. We would definitely stay there again.
Not very Indian
from mdrydenVery nice stay at the Hilton Agra
from mckibbenThe hotel doesn't want you to tip its staff (although the staff still accept them regardless except for the one housekeeping person we tried to tip). This is a nice feature of the hotel.
I paid about $150/night . An extra bed was free (two adults with two small children). Even thought you can't book the hotel for two adults/two children, it wans't a problem to put our entire family into one room with a king size bed and a rollaway. Very clean, moden rooms with a refridgerator inside.
Well marked signs so it was pretty easy for our driver to find. Front Desk was very helpful and attentive.
Great value...would definately stay here again.
Top Local Tips for Agra
Industrial sized wet wipes If you are doing the tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur and you haven't been to India, nohing will prepare you for what you will see and experience. India is an amazing place but be prepared - take plenty of tissues, only ever drink bottled water of good quality that is sealed, take dettox wipes (lots! - you will use every one of them!) We used high quality and high strength anti mosquito and did't get bitten once although we did see a lot of people with bites. The loos in public places are quite simply terrible and I am not particularly squeemish! You will most likely suffer from an upset tummy - most did on our tour. But you will have the most memorable trip - I enjoyed it all.
The Taj with a Toddler We definitely agree with the guidebooks on this point: get to the Taj early. We decided to visit on the 2nd morning after getting some rest at the hotel overnight. We left our hotel at 6am and arrived at the ticket booth about 6:30am. It was a bit hazy and the photos weren't as nice as those taken after the sun rose and the haze disappeared, but it was cool and the number of tourists not overwhelming --which made the experience much more enjoyable for all. There were sufficient open spaces for our little guy (15 months) to run around. He especially enjoyed taking off his shoes up at the main monument and running around in his socks. Note-guards are somewhat subjective about what you can bring in with you, they allowed us to bring in a small bag (we heard them telling another that their bag was too big) with a bottle of water, formula powder, a diaper and wipes. We saw other parents with strollers-not a bad idea, although there are stairs in some areas. We visited for 2.5 hours.
Plan for more time than you think you may need It always takes more time to get around Agra than you think
