Perfect place to stay and to learn India from close and best place to enjoy TAJ MAHAL. Owner Mr. Sandeep(past president of hotel & restaurant association of agra) is so informative and helpful. Rooms are clean and food is good as well.

Best hotel in Agra near Taj Mahal

We stayed at the KAMAL from December 7-11 before heading to GOA.
This is definitely a paradise in the middle of a rather ugly city.
The hotel and atmosphere is as comfortable as could possibly be
expected. Beautiful, spacioius rooms. Welcoming reception area.
Relaxing restaurant area. The staff is second to none.
Stuff makers restaurant is excellent with good food and
at roof top you can enjoy amazing front vew of taj mahal.

Trust this opinion - this hotel sets a new standard for courtesy
and cleanliness. Incredibly hospitable and there isn't a moment
when the maintenance staff is not making certain everything is
nothing less than immaculate.

I don't know about the other area hotels but I don't need to.
If we return to Agra we would not consider any place else.

Top Local Tips for Agra

Great place to eat Go to Joney's 5 mins walk from the hotel, the food is sublime and the owner very friendly - they cook the food to order and do it in front of view - excellent value for money!

seeing a different side to the Taj A guest we met at the hotel had told us to ask a rickshaw/tuck tuck driver to take us to ''the backside of the Taj''. We did and it was great. We got a different view of the Taj, with the river in front of it. This is OUTSIDE the Taj complex so it doesn't cost anything (except for the transport to get there).

There are 3 things to do in Agra... There are 3 things you should not miss in Agra (forget Fatehpur Sikri unless you're an architectural/historical buff, not much different to see other than what you get in Agra): 1) Obviously, the Taj Mahal. Take your time there, the grounds and gardens are beautiful, I spent 3 lazy hours relaxing there. 2) Hop a rickshaw down to Agra Fort, great views there and well preserved. 3) Take an auto-rickshaw from there down to Abkar's Mausoleum in Sikhandra (it's about 9 km away I think), trust me, it's worth it. It's set in a beautiful plain with monkeys and antelope running around, and the entrance gate itself is very impressive. You can likely skip out on the baby Taj, unless again you're a history/architecture buff, as well as the gardens behind the Taj across the river ( I forget what they're called...).
