I can't say enough about our stay -- the "Band Boys" played their beautiful island music and we were totaly mesmerized.
When it was time for us to leave we felt we were leaving part of our family behind. Great place and great staff. We are planning another trip to the island in the next few months.
Your Taveuni destination!from jodylmcnamara
(the owner) and the staff are very caring and will make your stay exceptional. They help you everyday in all your plans. The restaurant is very good, the food is great and the servers will always go out of there way to make it perfect. The island culture is brought to you, make sure to attend when " Pedro and the Boys" are playing.

The place to stay at in Taveuni!from bebopluvr
Taveuni is a remote place, but the staff will try to help in any situation. My wife developed a migraine and was given OTC medicine by the chef that really helped. Ronna and the staff really care about their guests' comfort. Also, the hotel has the best deals on the island on souvenirs (I was there for 2 weeks, enough time to check out the entire island).
The beach is nice, with some of the best snorkeling on Taveuni (although scuba diving is the real point of coming here).
My only caveat -- this place is small and intimate. No one is intrusive, but it's hard to remain totally anonymous when there are only three bures.
incredible value, great staff, fabulously romanticfrom lets-go-oak-land
at coconut grove you get your own cottage with plenty of privacy and comfort (would not recommend the one room in the main house, as it's near the kitchen). get the meal plan at the resort as there really aren't many options on the island, and the food there is incredible. You get to eat out on the deck with a great view of the ocean. It's a very nice, small resort -- no more than 8 or so people at any one time.
incredibly relaxing place to spend some time and the owner is well connected on the island so she can plan all kinds of different things for you to do -- bird watching, boat rides, hiking, etc. the hotel is on the main road around the island so you can go for nice walks yourself at your leisure -- you are very safe there and the locals are as nice as you can imagine. our bure had its own hammock out front which was the highlight of the trip -- for my wife it was the massages (she had two!).
the staff is very accomodating. they were happy to deliver our breakfasts to our bure and really do anything we asked.
only negative things I would say is that the beach is not great for much besides walking or laying out (cloudy water), and there are big dogs everywhere on this island so if you aren't comfortable around animals this probably isn't your place. I guess people have them for their own security, but it's not the most pleasant thing to run into on a walk. The owner has a german shephard, generally a very sweet dog, but it snapped at us once or twice which spooked us a little bit. But if you don't mind animals, it really isn't anything to worry about. A really great place that I would go back to without hesitation!!
Sunrise on the verandafrom Doug_in_SM
After a long day of traveling, arriving at Coconut Grove was like stepping into an oasis. From the welcome glass of fresh juice through our departure, we were well taken care of each day. Coconut Grove is for travelers who are looking for a small, intimate setting where you feel like you are part of the family, but not for those who want to be served 24/7. The desk closes for a few hours in the afternoon and again after dinner, allowing the staff to have time with their families. That being said, any request we had was taken care of immediately.
The Papaya Bure is small but comfortable, and the access to the outdoor amenities makes it feel larger. One of our favorite times of day was waking up with the sunrise and sipping coffee on the veranda. Each evening the staff provided us with a thermos of fabulous coffee that really did stay hot overnight. And then there was the food... We highly recommend the Saturday night buffet and you must try Bimla's papaya jam at breakfast.
Ronna and staff do a wonderful job at helping the guests feel part of the island – more so than at other resorts. From encouraging the guests to try other restaurants on the island, to arranging for us to attend a traditional Fijian feast as part of a school fund raiser, we were truly able to experience the local Fijian culture.
Vinaka to everyone at Coconut Grove for a wonderful vacation!
PS. When making your reservations, if Ronna suggests that you may want to stay for more than four nights, you should definitely listen to her. We won't make that mistake again.
