Flights... Avoid hurricane season, and think twice before flying in bad weather. We had a very scary flight out of Savusavu back to Nadi on Air Fiji. Was essentially raining so hard that it was dripping torrents of water inside the plane. When stopping in Taveuni to pick up a passenger on the way back to Nadi, the pilot tried landing 4 times and could not find the airport. Turned out that they had switched off the lights on the runway at 5pm, and there was a taxi driver in the control tower trying to talk to pilot down. They should not have been trying to land and the plane stalled twice and once nearly inverted. When he finally landed, we got off the plane and they wouldnt give us our money back.

Staying in Savusavu Don't bother spending much time in Savusavu. There isn't a whole lot to do and they get a lot of rain. The town does not have a proper sewage system and subsequently it goes untreated into the sea. Yuck.
