Too often, taxi drivers try to take advantage of foreigners by declaring a fare that is twice usual, or by not turing on the meter. A new toll road opened in Shandong about 1 year ago. Even adding in the tolls each way, my fare today should have been at most 95 RMB (65 on the meter, plus 15x2 for the tolls). The actual fare should have been 80RMB, which is what I paid. The driver had asked for 200RMB.
