Stayed at your wonderful Hotel for 6 nights recently whilst on our honeymoon. Reception, friendliness, courtesy and such professionalism needs to be copied by Aussies. Best wishes to the valets and all staff. Made to feel so at ease. Locality is tops & Octopus a real winner. Won't forget the Unforgettable "Hong Kong" at the Kowloon. We'll be back ok & will tell all our travelling friends.

The location of the Kownloon Hotel is perfect. In the basement there is a subway connection which brings directly to China.

Reasonably Priced and Well Furnished

This is definitely one of the better hotels to stay in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It doesn't have the biggest of rooms (for the cheapest rooms) but it's nice and cosy. Clean as well! The location is good - only minutes away from the MTR and stone's throw away from the Harbour. Even has free in-room internet services. It's easy to find good food and convenience store nearby the hotel and has a good array of shops. Definitely one of my choices in Hong Kong.

Nothing special and no real incentives

Long queue to check in and out. Road works outside were noisy. Otherwise it was ok, nothing special and no real incentives to come back. I am a Hilton Hours member and try to sty with Hilton wherever possible. I will stay at the City garden on North Point next time I come to HK. (better overall deal).

Top Local Tips for Hong Kong

octopus (transport) card -get it! by getting a rechargeable Octopus card you will save time each time you have to use the public transportation system. It also works on Ferries and in many convenience stores, plus it gives you a discount on your trip to the airport.

Shopping If you are planning on going to the Lady Markets and hong kong island, it would be a good idea to just buy a card that will let you put money on it, this is called an octopus card. Also, if you want to travel to Shenzhen and go shopping (best deals) you will need a visa, depending on how long you want to wait in the queue, depends if you want to get your visa before you leave or when you arrive at the border. Do not plan on going over on a friday afternoon when you do not have a visa already, as it is a huge wait!!

Octopus Card If staying for a couple of days or more it is worth purchasing an Octopus Card. you can buy them from the MTR stations. You need to spend $150HK this includes a $50HK deposit which you get back on return of the card. It allows travel on all MTR, KCR Star Ferries, trams and the Peak Tram. If you don't have one you will need to carry around a large amount of small change as the Star Ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island was $1.70HK one way, if you don't have the right money you don't get the change back. You pay $7.00HK for an administration fee on return, but as this works out at todays rate of approx 50pence, well worth the money.
