Top Local Tips for Hong Kong

Take the ferry to Kowloon The ferry is very cheap and it is a great way to see the Hong Kong skyline. The ride takes about 10 minutes and there is lots of shopping and fun stuff to see on the Kowloon side. Take the subway or the ferry back to Hong Kong.

The Salisbury YMCA The Salisbury YMCA - It has a great location next door to the Peninsula and the suites that look over to HK Island are great. Seriously good spot.

Shek O and the Dragon's back. There's a great trail which runs down the length of the peninsula to the east of stanley - look up "Dragon's back" and you will find several guides. A couple hours of walking with some great views will bring you to the road to Shek O - a beach village which is about as far off of the beaten path as you'll get on Hong Kong island. The village seems primarily to be a local's destination and has a great small beach and lots of small restaurants.
