Wonderful value. Excellent facilities with probably the best Spa I have ever encountered. The guest-rooms were of a high standard and the staff were very helpful and friendly. A very restful break and a joy to stay there.

Top Local Tips for Haikou

Stay at the Sheraton Much superior. Brand spanking new Fabulous as resorts go.. Cheap Cheap Cheap. 1 hour hike to the Airport though.

Airport taxis Make sure you have the phone number of your hotel. None of the taxi drivers at the airport spoke English & couldn't understand where we wanted to go - they only worked it out by speaking to the hotel.

Transportation in Haikou In Haikou, there are several different kinds of transportation. First, there are buses. These are very cheap, but they would be kind of scary without someone who speaks Chinese and can tell you when to get off! Regular taxis are the best way to go. Most have a minimum rate of 10 RMB (which is really cheap!!) and you can get just about anywhere for a very low price. They also have some unconvential kinds of taxis. Some are like little tricycle carts powered by a bicycle or motorcycle. These are very cheap and are really fun! Try one while you are there. However, stay away from taking a ride on just a plain motorcycle. There are plenty of motorcycle drivers who will want to drive you, but most of these are illegal and are very dangerous.
