Cruise on the Li River When you vist Guilin you must book a cruise on the Li River. It is a four hour cruise that winds through the beautiful scenery of the area ending up in Yanshou where you can do some shopping!

The cab from/to the airport Guilin airport is 28 km from town. It's a 45-minute ride. The evening I took a cab from the airport to the hotel, the cabbie used the meter and it was 65 Yuan. I handed him a 100-Yuan note and he wanted to keep the change. About $6 for a tip. I let him. It was late. On the way to the airport, the cabbie wanted no meter, a fixed rate of 100 Yuan. So that's what he got. Same price, either way.

Try the locals Prebooked taxi pick ups/returns and tours are wildly overpriced when compared with local arrangements so cut out the middle men and hire your airport taxi to show you sites and book trips, including River Li. Going rate for driver/car/fuel is around 120 yuan a day (£8 !!!) or 300 yuan for day including long pick up from Yangshau after rivertrip.
