Top Local Tips for Chengdu

If you have time, go to Lu Shen Lu Shen, a Buddhist mountain about 1 hr drive from Chengdu, is very worthwhile. The main attraction, the giant buddha, is nice but the other temples and shrines along the way are even nicer. Lovely laughing Buddha statues and spectacular views. Great place to restore your spirit.

Jinli On your trip to Chengdu, don't forget to check out Jinli street, an old somewhat touristy street full of small street merchants, restaurants, snack stands, bars, souvenir vendors. Also, a trip to Chengdu or Sichuan is not complete without an authentic hot pot experience. Have your local hosts take you to a real hotpot restaurant to taste the local fare - hot! Don't ask what you are eating.
