Top Local Tips for Siem Reap
Tuk tuk there is a saying in Siem Reap:"the price is in your mouth". It's true when you are visiiting Seam Reap because you need to bargain for everything, including Tuk tuk. when you take a tuk tuk back to your hotel or go to market, they may charge you anything like USD2 per trip, USD1 per head, or whatever. Tell them this: "USD1 per trip, if not I'll take another tuk tuk". My guide told me I sould get even cheaper price, but well, consider that they are making a decent living, and USD1 is a reasonable sum, just pay for it.
Start Your Day Early Get up early in the coolest part of the day to travel out to the temples. Take and drink plenty of water and take your time. Spend at the very least 4 days in Siem Reap and surrounds. Visit the local day market for absolute bargains (bargain hard). The new Siem Reap National Museum is a definite must for the 1000 faces of Buddha.
